We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The staff were extremely welcoming and professional. The first room we were given had a very strong drain smell so we immediately asked to move to another room. This request was granted without hesitation and the next room was lots better. However it was very tired and in need of re decorating. The bathroom door on the inside was so damp at the bottom the paint was peeling and wood curling up. The sink and bath took ages to drain… I only showered but in doing so the bath would fill up and take forever for the water to go. The carpet was very tatty in places and stained in the hallway. Breakfast was wonderful with a great choice of food and drinks and attentive staff. However the ambiance at dinner was not great. The tables were not covered with a cloth so no change from breakfast time which was disappointing. The lighting was very bright in the lounges which didn’t give a relaxing ambience at all.

We booked this hotel with friends through the hotel website, we had a fantastic 3 night stay just after Xmas, breakfast and a 3 course evening meal was included in our stay each night, the food choice was great, about 6 starters to choose from, and 5 desserts, the mains choice was salmon fillet, hunters chicken, gammon steak, pie of the day, chicken curry, pizza, fish & chips, beef ragu pasta, tofu shawarma and teriyaki udon noddles, breakfast was buffet but again had a great amount of choice, cereals, yogurts and fruits, hot plates with full english breakfast, toast, muffins, croissants & danish, you could order scrambled eggs, poached eggs or omelettes to be cooked fresh, there was a self service coffee machine with latte, cappuccino, flat white etc or filter coffee made to order & pots of tea, the receptionist gave us a lovely smiley welcome and goodbye when we left, as did all the other staff, be it bar or restaurant that we encountered. Our room was a trek on the 4th floor, but both rooms had a view of the garden and pods. there is no lift but the walk up and down the stairs kept us fit, the room rate we paid was what we would have paid for the meal for 2 in the evening so really good value. Only 4 miles from Gloucester, the cathedral for a £5 fee was beautiful to visit, and we were only 20 miles from Bourton on the Water, if we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay again

We’ve been to Bowden a few times for parties in the Pods, always a fantastic evening. The food is brilliant and the service exceptional. Will keep coming back for as long as the pods are there.

We arrived to lovely festive inviting reception and a warm welcome from Francesca. Bedroom was lovely and warm with a comfy bed. We attended the New year's event and it was great. From the bar to the staff serving the food it was organised really well. Considering how many guests there were the food was delicious and hot. There was a live band and they were great. Next morning we opted for breakfast in our room. Delivered on time with a great selection and was very tasty. The hotel is in beautiful grounds. A big thank you to all the staff who made it so enjoyable.

10/10 food, staff and decor!

I went for our annual christmas meal get together with friends in the pods. Once again completely happy! The pods are beautifully decorated inside and they are warm and cozy, we love It as It is private, the food is amazing and even though the staff have bring it to the pods It is hot. One thing that I must say the waiting staff are 10 out of 10, they are young, but hands on, and so polite and engaging, they must have a great hiring here, so all the times I have been they have always be fanastic! We will be back, thank you for all
