The rating is between average and poor. It's mediocre. The rooms are small (nothing unexpected) the bathroom smaller.. I had to repair the flush toilet as it did not work. Bring ironed shirts because there's no iron board and the suggested "use the table in the room" does not work. The WiFi offering is really terrible. The network connection drops all the time if ever one manages to connect. In the basement restaurant there's no coverage at all. The breakfast offering is fine. The staff is friendly and helpful. That saved the day for this hotel.

Good location in Montparnasse, the neighborhood is quite calm and quiet which I liked, yet still very Parisian. The closest metro stations (Alésia and Pernety) are 400-650 metres away. Within walking distance there are for example the Catacombs (1.1 km) and Tour Montparnasse (1.3 km). The room had a very comfortable bed, good air-conditioning and a safe. There could be more shelf space and the shower is tiny, so probably not suitable for a larger person. The breakfast was good, baguette, croissants, yogurt, fruits, pastries and such, in addition to sausage and bacon. I could return here.

Do you like abusive staff? Dirty laundry with you at breakfast? Mold in your room? This is the place!! The public areas are pleasant, breakfast and most front desk colleagues were pleasant and most spaces were very clean. Unfortunately a very concerning incident and borderline abusive front desk agent seriously impacted the stay in the absolute most negative way. Upon arrival we were coldly greeted by a non professionally attired woman without a name tag or Accor pin who offered minimal pleasentries and immediately stated we needed to pay €30 for a second breakfast. I presented my app Concur/tripit confirmation showing two guests in a double room and she admitted it was likely a rezoweb error but refused to assist or accommodate in any form. She was so curt she was bordering excessively rude, at one point almost refusing to give me a supplement key when I locked mine in my room and accosted me stating I should pay more. For the rest of the stay she was exceedingly unpleasant and I informed her I appreciate her concern but it was poorly handled. If this wasn’t bad enough there is more 1. The breakfast attendant was very kind and hard-working but couldn't keep up with the busy breakfast and all tables were left with piles of dirty dishes. I helped him clear 3 tables and took them to him. 2. Dirty laundry bags were in the breakfast area while a housekeeper sat at a breakfast table while your guests had no where to sit. A couple asked her to move but she would not. Dirty Mold is in your soap dispensers in the room, our cap came off and a substantial amount of black mold was there. I cleaned one but imagine the other if not all need inspected. I have found 9 other reviews online voicing the same thing – sure would be nice if the hotel honored their fake 15 minute guarantee and compensated guests for these horrors or at least cleaned the hotel and made sure staff were at least not hostile.

This is a very well-run little hotel and a great value for the price. Every hotel employee that I encountered (reception, housekeeping, breakfast room) was pleasant, helpful and professional. When I checked in for my 13 night stay, I asked for a quiet room facing the back courtyard and on a lower floor. The lady at reception gave me exactly that. I had booked a Single room, but when I opened the door I found that she had upgraded me to a Double room. While the room was on the small side (typical of Paris hotel rooms in this price range) it was actually larger than I was expecting and it did not feel claustrophobic at all. The room itself was extremely clean and the bathroom was sparkling clean. I really liked that the rooms had card key access so that you did not have to drop your key at reception when leaving the hotel. The in-room safe was the best I have ever encountered (very intuitive and easy to operate). The bed was extremely comfortable and had high quality sheets, big fluffy pillows and a thick, luxurious comforter/duvet. The air conditioner worked GREAT and so did the WiFi. Hot water in the bathroom was almost instant and it never ran out. My one minor complaint about the bathroom is that there was a lighted mirror above the sink that protruded about 6 inches from the wall and partially blocked access to the sink (it was impossible to wash your face without splashing water all over the floor). My two minor complaints about the room itself are that the sound insulation between rooms and between floors is poor and the choice of TV channels is extremely limited. There is a lounge for the hotel guests with sofas, a coffee machine, tea and snacks (generally either croissants and petits pains au chocolat or fresh fruit). I used it several times midday and enjoyed the coffee and snacks. The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations: excellent coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, etc, tea, fresh-squeezed orange juice, apple juice, milk, croissants, petits pains au chocolat, high quality jellies and marmalade, fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, green and red apples, peaches), diced fruit (pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, oranges, apples, grapes), delicious bacon, scrambled eggs (I did not try them, though), cold ham, cheeses, yogurt, cold cereal. The breakfast room attendants did a great job of replenishing the various food stations and picking up the plates and silverware at the tables after people left. The neighborhood around the hotel was largely residential with some businesses (though many of them were closed for the August holidays during my stay) and seemed very safe. There were several restaurants within a 5 minute walk. I am a fast walker, but for me it was a 4 minute walk to the nearby Pernety metro station. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely choose this hotel again. Strangely, this hotel will not let you book a stay of over 5 nights, so if you want to stay longer you'll have to book multiple stays of 5 nights or less.
