Loved our stay here for this vacation. It’s such a beautiful property! The staff is so gentle with our kids. We had special instructions for our kids food and the lady Pear made sure it was delivered nicely. The food is good. The pool is extremely beautiful 🤍

Very convenient location and you can walk to Patong with so many food options. Near Jungceylon mall and Bangla street. Realistically this hotel is not recently built and you can expect in terms of style, it’s not updated and with some wear and tear. It’s also not extremely big but it’s medium sized. But some notable things is we booked it for the bath tub. Note that there is no separate shower and it’s attached to the bathtub. And the temperature of the water changes every 5 seconds from cold to warm, warm to hot. So we felt that this was bothersome. The toilet is small but bearable. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets smell great. Very clean. And there is a smart television in a decent 32” with YouTube, Netflix and channels. The room also had good soundproofing and it was quiet at night. The pool has no jacuzzi but it’s quite decently maintained. They do have a pool bar. They also have a shuttle bus drop off at Patong beach so it’s a good commuting option. The buffet breakfast also had a wide variety of food and also they have iced drinks on tap such and lattes and Thai drinks which I felt was very special. They also have buffet dinner options on some weekdays. The room service staff were very responsive to our needs no matter the time of the day. From day one they were already hospitable and explained everything in great detail. Housekeeping was also very prompt. Overall I felt the price paid was worth it.

Having been to Thailand many times, usually staying at the Holiday Inn, Patong in the Bukasura rooms, this time we decided to change our accommodation to the Grand Mercure, Patong. After looking at the resort online we booked one of their premium rooms with the pool access deck on the ground floor. The photos are obviously from when it opened, not current !!! We arrived to a nice entry and lovely staff to greet us. Check in was fast and easy. We were taken to our room and our baggage was delivered. My immediate thought was how old looking the room was, my second thought the small size. I immediately contacted reception to ask if they we can cancel the 10 day booking and stay elsewhere (I had already called the Holiday Inn to see if we could get in the Bukasuri room). I was told since I had paid in full there wouldn’t be a refund, but they have other rooms available if I pay extra !!!! We said let’s look at them….. One was on the 6th or 7th floor and was a suite, but no better in terms of upgrade only bigger and no pool access and the other was in the same area we had booked and the exact same room so that was confusing. We decided to not give away our money and stayed. The rooms must be 20 years old and zero renovation has been done in that time, only patch ups and looked very old. There was paint on the blind, silicon on top of silicon at every joint, a bath you need to be an Olympic jumper to get into to have a shower, chipped paint, cupboard's, bent bedside lamps (one didn’t work) etc. In room cooling worked fine. The outside swim up deck was nice with a shared private pool for pool access room guests only. The main pool is nice, albeit quite small for such a resort. Wooden pool deck surroundings are badly warped and the concrete throughout the resort had cracks and was faded. Outer walls of the rooms up to the top level had paint peeling off them and it too looked very tired. Main pool has a swim up bar, with “happy hour” between 4-6pm daily for a buy 1 get 1 free deal. Drinks are not cheap at 300Baht each, when you can get them for 99Baht at most of the street cocktail bars. Service at the bar is incredibly slow, see 10-15 minutes for service and delivery of your drink. Breakfast buffet was fine with a good variety. The “Bubbles” restaurant food was good. The seafood buffet dinner was good. Staff were all fantastic. Check out was fine. Would I book again or recommend this to a friend ??? The answer is a firm no….. This is a 3 star resort and the prices they charge are 4-5 star resort prices considering its location and age. There are many other resorts in the area I’d consider before the Grand Mercure, the Holiday Inn, across the road for one, where we have stayed many times including last year so we have a good comparison process. I’ve tried to be as positive as possible to give a fair review of the resort, the food and the staff. I hope it helps in your choosing your next stay in Phuket.

Hello Barryw845 and thank you for this very detailed review. I am happy to see good comments about our service team and food quality. Those are aspects we can have an immediate impact on and very pleased we score good points here. We all have our preferences and i can respect the fact you're liking our friends across the road better. Returning customers of our two hotels have been going back & forth for the last 10-11 yrs and it is healthy. I am really sorry we couldn't do better but i can ensure you that renovations have been taking place on daily basis for the last 4 years now and since Covid. We just completed the installation of new Air camber in room's ceiling in all our 300 rooms (humidity), we are switching 28 rooms bathtubs to shower (i agree with you here) and have completed 6. We have replaced our entire hot water line or 7km of piping on all floors and in all building earlier this year. Painting/wood works are done daily and i can promise you we are all very much focus on our hardware. It is a lot of work after 10 yrs of service and we're doing our very best to keep it clean & tidy :) I wish we could have met so to share this with you and also appologize in perso but it is too late so maybe next time you're in Phuket. I'd be happy to offer you a cup of cofffee or couples of beers and show you imporvmenent made again. Many thanks again, Sebastien
