Convenient location, ok hotel but quite expensive

I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel as a single traveller. I chose it for its location that worked well for my program and this did not disappoint. My room was quite big, it was relatively new and comfortable despite some comments I saw on here from other travellers. As a Platinum member of the ALL program I was hoping for some amenities to be provided such as a coffee machine in the room etc. This was actually promised to me at check in by Tanya but must have skipped her mind. I reminded another staff member later on who apologised and told me it would be sorted but that never happened so I just dropped it. The breakfast buffet was quite nice and so was the bar. Overall the staff was pleasant. I did find that this hotel was actually quite expensive compared to others in the same area and I would not have stayed there if I had not been an ALL member. Overall I would say it was ok but not a great value for money considering the high price of the stay.

I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful receptionist who went out of her way to get me extra tea bags and milk. The reception staff also left a beautiful home made cookie. Nice touch. She's an absolute credit to the hotel. Not their fault that the room looked nothing like the photos, was tiny for £149 and no breakfast, and not very comfortable for working. Not their fault that management ask them to take a card swipe when the room is prepaid on a government contract. Not happening. At this point we're at 5 stars for reception staff, around 2 for the room. I'd probably have done a 3 overall. Then came time for bed. Not only were there no pillow protectors but the pillow I had been destined to use was horrendously stained. Absolutely disgusting and unforgivable. Hence dropping to 1 star. Definitely will not be staying here again. Probably cross off all Mercure hotels the whole group. It's a shame because those great reception ladies are also being let down by management and housekeeping. I didn't have time to have a face to face complaint to the management unfortunately.

Lovely hotel, perfect location and amazing staff. Highly recommend. Special mention to Apoorva, after the theatre Apoorva was super welcoming in the hotel bar, the perfect end to a wonderful evening. Tanya on reception for always remembering our names, room numbers, what can I say??? It’s the little things that make this little gem special. Joynul & Rupesh - all are the reason we will definitely return. Thank you

Poor room security unsuitable for single female guests

Single female business traveller. I was checked into room 311 and given my room card, only to find when I entered the bedroom that it was already occupied! Another guests personal possessions including their laptop were in the room, thankfully the guest was not in the shower or in the bed, but this is terrible security and invasion of privacy and should not happen with a computer room card system! When I told the hotel reception she was angry and gruff, almost as if it was my fault! I got the impression this was not the first time this had happened. She begrudgingly and sternly apologized and checked me into another room which was thankfully empty. I was not offered any complimentary vouchers to make up for their mistake, which I would have expected. I spent the night with a chair pushed up against the door, as a single female I felt very vulnerable all night thinking someone else could have access to my room due to the security fault.

Had a chance of plans and ended up near Euston. After a quick walk I was friendly greeted, good a nice and spacious room and had a very good night of sleep. All was there the room was clean and had all what you needed. Had a fine breakfast and just around the corner got the bus to all the hotspots in London! Would certainly recommend!
