Only stayed here for a short one night. On arrival the reception area was clean and tidy with welcoming staff. I liked the quirky suitcase lights. A good size lift to our 3rd floor room which was a 'Standard King'. A spacious room with double aspect and three windows letting in plenty of light. Also a choice of Air Con or a Heater. The area was clean and tidy. Did not get chance to use Alexa, however the other amenities, WIFI, TV, Kettle, etc were all good. The bed was for me very comfortable and I slept well. Check out was easy and the staff great. There was one small issue that I forgot to mention to the staff (apologies to the next occupants) is that the sink was very slow to empty. I didn't have breakfast so cannot give an opinion om this. Regarding car parking, I opted for the Victoria Centre as it was easy to get to with ample spaces in a clean and well lit area. I did leave the car there for 24 hours and I thought that was quite reasonable for City Parking. If I visit Nottingham city centre again the Mercure would definitely be on my list.

I went to this hotel with my husband to celebrate my birthday and after a long day I was looking forward to a relaxing night and some room service. Getting to the hotel by car if you are not familiar with Nottingham is a nightmare as you actually need to be directed to a nearby car park not the hotel. The staff on reception were good and we were upgraded but to be honest the for the price we paid the upgraded room is what we should have got anyway. The room has some nice amenities (fridge with non alcoholic drinks, robes, slippers) and is quirkily designed with character but is rather tatty. Chipped paint, stained curtains and grubby bathroom tiles. The biggest disappointment for me was the lack of room service which left us having to order from Uber eats, which is fine but I could have easily done this from home. It took a while to get to sleep as due to the pub downstairs it was very noisy. The floorboards from the room upstairs were constantly creaking and we also had to switch of the ridiculously noisy air conditioning. Breakfast was adequate and I liked the open fire in the breakfast room. The hotel is centrally located for exploring Nottingham city centre by foot however I probably won’t return.

We have now started a relationship with Bohns Burgers which is an award winning restaurant. Our relationship with them allows our guests to order from their delicious menu and the food is brought piping hot and fresh to the hotel due to their location being right near the hotel. Feedback so far as been very positive from our guests. I am very sorry this only started shortly after your stay with us. Brilliant hotel and friendly staff

Brilliant hotel me and my partner came for a one night stay for a concert and booked fairly last minute as decided to stay in notts for the night as a treat. As soon as we entered the reception looked lovely! And the staff were even friendlier unfortunately I didn’t get any of their names but all staff were very lovely and very chatty while checking in and out of the hotel! On arrival we found that we had received a free upgrade which was a very pleasant surprise! Once we got up to the room again it was very lovely and clean. The room I would say is still on the smaller side but for what we needed it was perfect! I loved the idea of the Alexa (although personally we didn’t need to use it) the only small thing we would change would be being able to access iPlayer on the tv but this did not ruin our stay in any way of course! Overall this was a brilliant hotel and we would definitely stay again!!!!

Poor level of cleanliness and hygiene

We stayed in the hotel for two nights on a city break. The hotel looked lovely online! As you come in the reception area is very nice and the tavern connected is a lovely touch. However, there is a lack of hygiene and cleanliness in this hotel. The sheet was not properly on the bed which revealed blood and yellow stains on the mattress. The mugs and spoons were dirty and some coffee sachets were already open! The window was tiny meaning there was no light in the room, with a view of beer cans and cigarettes outside. The blind could not go up properly. Meaning the room was extremely dark. The floor could have done with a hoover too. I would never normally complain, however when you pay over £240 for a two night stay in a small room I expect some level of hygiene. Attention to detail is important! Checking areas like the coffee station and getting the mattress and sheets properly cleaned would make this much better. Nobody wants to get in a bed with stains all on it!

The hotel is located in an old building, so don't expect perfection. That said, the room was clean and tidy. The air conditioning was slightly noisy but the comfortable bed made sure it didn't keep us awake :-) The staff were excellent, chatty at check in without being OTT and very helpful. We stay about 4 times a year and would dread staying somewhere else!
