I stayed here for five nights in January 2026. I had booked one of the older style rooms, which, as I had stayed at an Ibis Budget previously, I knew would be OK for me, as I was on my own. The shower and toilet are separate, and open onto the bedroom, there is also a handbasin in the bedroom. Bathmats are available from reception. There isn't a kettle and whilst there is access to hot water in the breakfast area, you will need to provide your own mug, tea/coffee, milk and sugar. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bedding was warm enough. Aldgate East is probably the nearest tube station and a maximum of five minutes walk, but Whitechapel and Liverpool Street stations are also nearby. I don't recommend the hotel breakfast, there are several decent independent cafes on the walk to Aldgate East instead. I was able to leave my luggage before check in and after check out, for which I was grateful. There was an issue with the room I was allocated, but the friendly and efficient Vanessa on reception dealt with this promptly. The hotel is in a busy area, with the East London mosque next door and markets nearby, but didn't feel unsafe to me.

Firstly, if you look at the pictures in the reviews you will see the reality of this hotel. It needs improvements left and right to be "Accord" approved. It is relatively cheap for London prices, but still a "Budget". Do not worry though as they DO have scheduled works in 2025 to start these improvements. Even though this is great as some rooms clearly need it, THE HOTEL DOES NOT INFORM THE GUESTS ABOUT THE INCONVENIENCE AND NOISE OF THE REPAIRS PRIOR TO BOOKING. Guests only know when they arrive and read it on the lift notice board (picture) and or have to make a complaint. They started their programmed works and improvements on room 636 this last Monday. We were staying in room 637. No warnings or plans to evacuate surrounding rooms so they wouldn't be bothered by the noise. Badly planned, I would say. There were two women at the reception desk who could not have cared less when we complaint about the noise and the scarce availability for housekeeping in the room (every 3 days and changes of sheets and/or towels upon request). They did not even apologise, nor did anything to move us to another room. I had to write a formal complaint with a video attached of the noise we were enduring for management to take this problem seriously. The manager came quickly to right the wrong and moved us to a distant room where we could barely hear the drills. We were dimissed and ignored on the first try to talk to them directly. Breakfast is fairly good. Staff is generally nice, respectful and hardworking, with a few clear exeptions. Price and location work for tourists as they have Aldgate East and Whitechapel underground stations just 5 min away.

I checked out on 31st August morning. While the hotel is clean and well located, but the reception staff were disappointing. Two Indian ladies at reception kept speaking in their own language, ignoring guests. This was unprofessional and unwelcoming. In London, English should be the standard. Staff training is needed.

I had a really unpleasant experience with a staff member named Chaitanya. She spoke to me in a very loud and harsh way, which came across as rude and even racially insensitive. That’s not what I expect when staying at a hotel, where staff should make guests feel comfortable and respected. I asked her for her manager’s email to raise my concern, but she refused to share it, which left me feeling dismissed and upset. Honestly, her attitude didn’t feel professional at all and I don’t think it reflects well on the hotel.
