Ibis Budget Hotel I stayed at the Ibis Budget Hotel for a few days in October as a solo traveller.  I booked the double room and concur with the other reviews in that the room is compact, with just the basics, but this is exactly what you know you are buying into with a budget hotel chain. There is a separate private toilet but it is worth noting that the bathing area is in the main bedroom and the shower comes straight off this, so if you are sharing the room you will have to be mindful of who you want to see you in your birthday finery. Pros The hotel is perfectly situated in a really nice area of Berlin, lots of shops, restaurants and bars and plenty to do if you fancy staying local. If not, the hotel is just a minute or so walk to a main tube station which is well connected across the city (and to the airport's)  There is a 24 hour reception and the staff were nothing but pleasant and friendly and spoke good English which is a bonus for me as I speak no other languages and so always very grateful for this. I also managed to book in to my room earlier than the allotted time. The hotel is lovely and clean and well serviced. The hotel is a bit further out to get to from the airport but I don't really see this as an issue as it's very well connected and a distinct neighbourhood you might want to visit anyway.  Area felt nice and safe and there was a little market out in the square on a Tuesday. Cons It is a basic budget hotel and whilst I didn't expect luxury, it is time the beds, pillows and bedding were upgraded, they are not very comfortable. My double room was two single beds together and as such the bedding was for a single bed.  Being on a bustling road it can be a bit noisy outside but you will need to open a window so make sure you're ok with this if you're booking a room at the front. Tips The tube is really handy for getting about but if you have any important journeys to make, do check the travel website as the tube map is out of date.  Always make sure you buy the right ticket for your journey - I made one small error on my first day using it and the authorities are particularly unforgiving. I would consider using this chain again on another trip but would next time consider the price point for another hotel for a better bed as this is something that would be worth it to me. That said the hotel is value for money for its location and the high score reflects my experience taking everything into account.

Sydsolo Solo travel - Opinia zatwierdzona w TripAdvisor

My first stay back here since the Covid days. I gave it 3 stars (2.5 if this is possible) because of the good location near KaDeWe, friendly staff and general spaciousness of the room and ensuite. But there were some important defects. As pointed out, there is really NO airconditioning. They justified it as centrally controlled but set to a very low fan force. So low that for my three nights there I woke up feeling hot and stuffy as not enough air was being pumped into the room. I think the hotel should be more upfront and transparent about this at the time of booking. Secondly the quality of the breakfast in comparison to the 17 euros charged needs improvement: scrambled eggs are watery, limited choices especially fruits, juices dont appear to be freshly squeezed (orange juice not available day I took the breakfast). Thirdly there are a lot of banging of doors and the mattress is too soft providing insufficient back support. Might be time to try a different hotel.

I stayed at the ibis Berlin Kurfuerstendamm while doing business in Berlin. The hotel is close to the Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station, making getting around Berlin very simple. There is a daily market along Wittenbergplatz and good restaurants in the immediate area. The front desk staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The room was simple, and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean, and housekeeping did a great job during my stay. The breakfast buffet was much better than I had expected, but be aware that breakfast is not included. There is an extra charge for each day. Overall: I recommend the ibis Berlin Kurfuerstendamm.
