Firstly, the gentleman at the reception desk, was the most helpful, pleasant man we came across in 5 weeks of travelling and staying at several different hotels. room was spacious enough, very clean, good size bathroom and very quiet. Breakfast was good and very reasonably priced compared to nearby establishments. Great location for metro, only metres away and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. If ever went to Paris again, would definitely stay there .

The rooms are small but efficient. The AC worked well. We had a great stay and the location is fantastic as 2 min walk to the metro Did not use the restaurant to comment. As a diamond accor member there was no upgrade, no amenity, no welcome drink and no acknowledgement of the top level status.

The pictures used to promote the 18 sq foot twin bed bedroom on the website do not correspond to the room that we got. Our room is so small that both beds are stuck together and the wooden like floors had not been cleaned prior to us entering the room as we ended up having the previous guest’s plastic clothes stuck to our socks on top of the general dirt. Hotels love to use runners and extra pillows to put on the clean bed sheets. The ones we have are filthy. So why put them over clean beds? There is a heatwave in Paris at the moment and the hotel has aircon so the room had a lovely temperature to walk into on the check-in day but on the second day, the cleaner had turned the aircon off so it was very stuffy when we walked in last night. The staff are pleasant and courteous. The hotel is just small ( reception is literally behind the front door and the breakfast room is tiny) but I think it’s a common feature shared by many hotels in Paris. Overall, I think my disappointment with the hotel is that the room we got, does not correspond in any way to the pictures used on the website and this is simply misleading. If there are several types of twin bed rooms then different pictures should be shown not just pictures of your “best one”.

Hotel Mercure Paris Bastille Marais is well located in an area with public transportation links (metro station Voltaire). Hotel cleanliness was very good, and my room was good enough, although smallish and without much space for luggage and clothes and with a narrow oddly shaped desk. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning - although was not noisy was totally ineffective. The bathroom consisted of a long empty corridor, with everything cramped at the end (shower, basin, toilette). Free wi-fi was good, staff were helpful, and breakfast was OK. To summarise: nothing bad, but everything definitely less than what I found in other four star hotels.

This small hotel is in the bustling place Leon-Blum. Although the direct area is a little gritty, the location is good and convenient. Extending outwards the local streets become quieter and more peaceful. Amongst the local businesses are numerous boulangeries, patisseries, cafes and restaurants. The quality can be quite good and many varied international cuisines are represented. Overall the hotel is a little basic with a bit of a modern, albeit shopworn, edge. The pillows were lumpy, the draperies weren't hanging correctly, an unopened piece of mail postmarked 2019 appeared, as did a bobby-pin. For the price this is probably a solid, perhaps better than standard, choice. The staff was kind. Every other guest seemed delighted to be there.
