We stayed only one night. We got a Loft room. The check in was easy, and the room was easy to navigate to. the loft room is well set up, it has a nice kitchenette and sofa and balcony downstairs. a nice soft bed,(very comfortable), a spa bath, and a bathroom upstairs. it is evidently a bit of an older hotel and will need some renovation, but it is comfortable and meets our needs. The Stairs are very narrow and curved, so I would not reccomend this room if you like to drink alcohol, or are not as good at navigating stairs in the dark as you would like to be. location is perfect. only about 4-5 blocks from anywhere worth going at the most. 2 blocks from the esplanade and one block from the aquariam. our airconditioner was leaking, but we let them know and i ams sure it will be fixed for the future. We didnt use the pool as we had a spa bath in our room. after check out they let us store our luggage for a few hours which was very nuice as our next flight wasnt until much later that evening.

Great location. Room smelt musty. Visable mould on the air con. Staff did clean the visable mould however needs a professional clean. The Air con in the second room was only cooling and not cold enough. The TV required to be turned off at the powerpoint to reconnect to the internet every time it was turned off. The coffee machine leaked. And there was one rude staff member that complained at getting some dish washing liquid. The rest of the staff were friendly, the room was adequate and the food was good

Stayed for a couple of nights in early December. The hotel is very convenient for the aquarium, promenade and cairns cbd. It has a nice restaurant/bar overlooking the small pool and my room was adequate with enough space The rooms on the ground floor have no view (except a wall and a car park) though there are rooms on the first floor that seem to have balconies and views over the pool. Also the guest WiFi wasn’t functioning for much of the time I was there (you could connect but not to the internet) Note also that breakfast is a la carte only (no buffet) and the (free) coffee from the machine was cold There are limited communal areas though the seating and tables in the reception area are quite pleasant

When in Cairns, I like to stay away from The Esplanade, where things can get a little - shall we say - vigorous. The Mercure is close enough to all the major attractions to be within walking distance, and far away enough from the nightspots to be quiet. The rooms are large, clean, air-conditioned and quiet. The beds are comfortable, with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was clean, with an excellent shower recess . . . and no clingy shower curtain. There is a small mini-bar, and the attached restaurant is excellent. I'll be using it again.

The stay and staff are plesent enough, rooms are comfortable, Hotel is in a nice location at the end of town but everywhere is easy enough to get to with a short stroll which is just as well as I would avoid the restaurant for breakfast at all costs! my eggs benedict had the spinach just dropped on straight from water which resulted in one big inedible soggy mess.
