ibis Styles Lyon Centre - Gare Part Dieu bintang 3

Getting into the underground parking was not so easy because of some roadworks, but once in it was good. The room faced the station but the sound insulation was so good that I heard nothing when sleeping. The bed was fantastically comfortable. The rest of the room was good but it was not possible to cool down the room with the controls in the room. Breakfast was average. The staff were very friendly. If you scanned your par parking ticket at reception there was a 50% reduction on the parking charge which was 14€ for the overnight.

Once you understand that Ibis Styles is not the Ibis Budget nextdoor then all is fine. Good reception, clean, comfortable and nice little knick-knacks in the room, which provides all you could reasonably expect. Perfectly acceptable breakfast included in room price. Good view over the station and Lyon but that does mean keep the window shut at night unless you like station noise. Proximity to the Lyon Part-Dieu station is the key plus. While trams go from pretty well outside the door, the Metro is actually under the other side of the station. Lyon has a good public transport system and it is well worth getting to know it.

Nice simple hotel near Gare. Can walk over in minutes. Room was clean and spacious. Good sound proofing even near Gare. Double layer of windows. Breakfast was basic and good enough for me. The ladies handling the breakfast area were nice folks.

Stayed 3 nights here in early September 2022. The hotel is right next to the train station in a building with the Mercure and Ibis budget hotels inside as well. At the moment, and still, the same entrance is used for the Ibis styles and budget hotels, which is a bit bothersome. Staff not friendly / welcoming. Breakfast is basic, often supplies are not refilled (staff very slow) and messy. There is not a lot of space. The bar is closed so for the welcome drink had to go to the Mercure hotel bar. Room was on 9th floor with a nice view of the train station. It was very quiet - they have 2 windows. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Room itself a bit worn down (walls etc.), but I guess it is a busy hotel and not all travelers behave. Overall a nice base for the weekend in Lyon. Walking time to the city centre and the main tourist sights amounts to around +-30mins. WARNING!: Be very careful with the vending machine here, next to the reception & elevators: a bottle of water costs 2 Euro. I was charged 3 times 2 Euro for one water bottle and I am now trying to figure out how to get my money back! Also very strange that as a Gold member they do not provide 2 bottles of water for free in the room per day!

This would have been a decent selection for a one night stay; very close to the train station and car rental, and within walking distance of some local eateries and bars. You would need a car or taxi to go to the more historic part of Lyon. The room itself was clean but small. Check in was impersonal but quick and efficient. The shower had a strange step into it and the potential was there for tripping or falling. The biggest problem we encountered was that the AC was not working and we spent a miserable night trying to get comfortable; we opened the window which helped somewhat but at 5 AM the noise from the trains was unbearable. These are some of my reasons for the poor review. Breakfast was served in a small area and there was a fair variety of food and drinks. However it was very crowded and we did worry about being in such close contact with other guests. I’m not sure if I would stay again.
