Mercure Lyon Centre Brotteaux Hotel bintang 4

We stayed here for one night in January 2023. We took a taxi from the airport, which cost 55 euros. The hotel is located close to the main train station (Lyon Part Dieu), about a 15-20-minute walk away. We walked to the historic centre which was about 3 km away and that took about half an hour. There are lots of restaurants and shops around the hotel and it seems to be in a safe area. The room was fairly large and comfortable and, even though our room was facing the street, we had no problem with noise. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. For what we paid we found this somewhat overpriced.

Location is very good for main train station and the hotel is surrounded by some nice bars and restaurants - BUT: Room - possibly the smallest double room I have ever stayed in and no wardrobe - just 6 hangers between 2 walls - I am not making this up! I haven't been in a hotel without a wardrobe since I was a student in Greece. I had to leave items hanging from the corner of the TV! Breakfast - the woman in charge of attending to guests at breakfast was utterly devoid of any customer service skills or perhaps it was just my imagination when she blanked me constantly when she heard my accent and continued to serve French guests with great enthusiasm... Min bar - poorly stocked, no beers or wine

It was difficult to sleep because the outside noise is so loud. This was especially true because the air conditioning was off for the season and needed the windows open. Restaurant nearby but not much to do. Easy metro to peninsula and old town.

This is a lovely hotel, the air is marginal, my sink stopped up, but the location is fabulous, staff is kind. Minimal English. The rooms are small, but bathroom is nice. There is a fridge in the room which was nice. Coffee was good. I'd stay here again but request a room off the main drag if you want to open the windows.

We had an overnight stay in Lyon and decided to stay in what looked like an older part of town albeit close to the TGV station. The staff were delightfully friendly and helpful for recommendations for dinner, what to see with our toddler in the 1/2 day available to us. Rooms were very clean and reasonably sized for a Mercure hotel. Bed comfortable, mini-fridge to keep water cool, all in line with expectations of a mercure. I would have given 5* for all this. However the air conditioning was probably as old as the hotel 1911(?) and even on maximum fan on cooling only managed to blow air around the room which was stifling hot. I was tempted to leave the room door open as even the corridor was cooler. Although we informed reception, it was not possible to improve (needs a new air conditioning system), nor was an alternative room or fan offered. In short - don’t stay here in summer…
