Friendly staff, clean hotel, good location, but not quite what I booked!

I reserved direct on the Accor website 2 superior suites that said they had a "queen size bed, single bed and sofa bed". One room booked for three, one room booked for two (siblings). When we arrived, there was no single bed in either of the rooms, and one room only had the queen size bed made up, which didn't work for us as my two adult sons don't actually want to share a bed, and in the other room whilst the sofa bed had been made up, a sofa bed is of course not as comfortable as a single bed. We asked the team to make the sofa bed up in the other room, and had to remind them again when we came back in after dinner. The nearby public payable parking is height restricted which doesn't work for a car with a top box. The hotel has limited private parking, but this clearly needs to be booked in advance as we were told it was full, but there was no information on the website about booking parking. However, we were allowed to park in one of the priority spaces provided we would be able to move our car if it was needed, which helpfully for us it wasn't, and we appreciated this accommodation. The bathroom spaces are odd - separate toilet and bathroom that almost feel like they are in cupboards! However, clean and provide what you need. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable (sofa bed as comfortable as you expect from a sofa bed), and breakfast was good. 10 minutes walk to city centre. All in all, would recommend if visiting Reims, but if you need parking without height restriction, make sure you contact the hotel to book it, and if you want a separate bed made up in a room sleeping two, then again, contact the hotel in advance.

Nice hotel. Clean, good facilities. Airco in the room is not good enough, doesn't get the temp down in the room. All good 4 the rest. Nice breakfast. Clean bathroom, We had a family suite, beds neatly made. Parking adjacent in in the train station parking, 12 € per night.

Nice room to stay and staffs are nice but no service and a little far from downtown…

When you come from Reims station, you take north exit otherwise big detour. Room was very big. We rent connected rooms , so it was convenient. It was clean and bed was comfortable. There is microwave and 1 room has separate shower and bathtub. 1 small toilet. Other room has bathroom for handicapped. It was big bathroom. Breakfast was good, a lot of choices. There is not much restaurant that you can eat near hotel so it is good choice to take breakfast at hotel. It is good thing that they give you a bottle so you can fill up water ( cold, and with carbonated or normal water) For complaints: Checking in was 14:00 but room was not ready until 15:00. For checking in it took time, too. We waited long. I had a question and I called front desk, nobody answered. It looks like not enough staffs to work. It is quite far from downtown so if you want to see show at night, it is quite far…you can walk or call taxi. I took tram. From Near station of hotel (schneiter )to hotel, it took 9 minutes by walk.

Very conveniently Located at the non-city side of the main railway station. In 10 minutes you walk to the city centre (shortcut via the Effia parking garage and underneath the railway station). Good rooms. We took a suite for 3 persons (but we were only with the two of us). This gives you enough space, specially when you stay a few days. Good bath and shower. Separate toilet a bit small. Good queen size bed - why not a king size? Good noise isolation against the trains. Airco present but a bit noisy. Breakfast has enough choices (but is expensive - as always nowadays). Parking in the Effia garage next to the hotel is convenient and nicely priced at 12,50 per night. Price is a bit high, but that’s a bit logical when you take a 3 person suite for 2 persons. Very small kitchenette. The suite is also suitable to for business and to receive a (1) guest, by using the room separators.

Consider other options first.

Let’s start with the positive aspects: rooms are spacious, clean, recently refurbished. The mattress was excellent, unfortunately the pillows were of the usual soft-foam style (I must admit I did not request duvet or feathers pillows). Yes, there is a refrigerator, but it doesn’t even contain a single bottle of water! One of the most frustrating features of Accor’s policy (in France) is their ungenerous welcome drink policy for Silver members. There is a voucher for the member only, if you have booked two rooms for four persons, you only get one drink (not sure if you could ask for four straws to share it). Breakfast is of the full self-service style, even for coffee and tea. The room as such is definitely all but cosy. The location near the railway station might be convenient if you arrive by train, otherwise it is quite a walk to the old town either across a bridge or through the station (20 - 25 min). If you arrive by car, there is a reasonably priced parking facility nearby. The only interesting place to visit in the neighbourhood will attract history aficionados: the Museum of the Surrender contains the original War Room where WW2 ended (in Europe) with the capitulation of the Third Reich in May 1945. A last positive point: all members of staff at the Novotel are very friendly and helpful.
