Front desk had English speakers, and room service and cleaning all good... Only negative was there was occasionally a bit of noise and floor coverings due to refurbishment for the 7 days I was there in early/mid-Jan - plus the pool and one of the restaurants was also closed during this period, which I was not made aware of in advance. As it was, they upgraded my room, and didn't really have time to use the pool anyway (although it would have been nice - and I can imagine this could be disappointing for some)... Other than that, a well above average stay...

It was the comfortable stay with Grand Mercure with clean facilities and food service. Only 1 area to improve - on Accor the bed size mentioned is king size without measurement but actually grand mercure does not have actual king size bed But finally they shifted us to another 2 double bed upgrade. Thanks for it.

We arrived late evening and the check-in procedure was smooth. Hotel room was good and compliment from a hotel was pretty tasty. We asked for a baby cot in our room and it was already there. Promoted breakfast was nice.

An exceptional welcome back from reception to departure although my schedule did not allow me to stay in Grand Mercure central for the last 6 months. When you meet Dennis only one time you understand that the all crew got his warm hosting personality coming down under. I have been staying here for now close to 3 years and do feel like home with a special touch. Unfortunately, I do not speak Chinese and the all staff make sure that I am well attended; from seamless check in to the bar having a coffee with guest who feel good about the service. As I spent some time at the lounge at level 10, there it is a special moment; I have been delighted to acknowledge how much the lounge Mgr can remember what I usually eat for my breakfast, she is just exceptional of attention. Another place I usually do not miss even if I come to Beijing for 1 night is the gym which is well managed by the same lady and man very courteous, the place is spotless. My special moment during the stay was meeting George from the front desk who come up to the lounge at the request of the lounge Mgr (I am sorry I forgot her name), I acknowledged another level of service, maybe influence by a perfect English but definitely a 5 stars level of service, knowledgeable and efficient. In no time, booking for the entrance tickets to forbidden city during my next trip in Beijing for leisure with my family was done and where about. My experience with Grand Mercure central is great and do hope to find the same level in other brands of the Accor group. Harry P.

The experience at the hotel was pretty good: great location and service, the personnel was very kind and polite. The structure is old and I had a problem with smoke in the corridor of the 8th floor: it seemed like there was fire, but we found out that it came from a creepy door in the middle of the corridor.

Satisfied: 1. The receptionists are nice and welcoming. 2. The location is great Dissatisfied: 1. The facilities are outdated considering the price 2. I could not connect to the WIFI as the verification system never sent the SMS to my phone. I tried my Chinese number and UK number without success. I called the front desk twice and waited for 1.5 hours, they said they would send someone but nobody came. Eventually I gave up and did not have WIFI during my entire stay for 2 nights.

We were in a Suite on level 10, which was very comfortable. Service was generally very good apart from a meal we had at the Cantonese restaurant on level 3. Wrong meal, and tardy service, and questions about our credit account which would have been better for staff to resolve internally, then talk to us rather than try and hold us up

Hotel staffs were lovely and front desk noticed guests' needs fast. The room was very spacious and bed was comfortable. Service is top-notch but there were a couple of front desk staffs who do not really speak English. Once I had to help translate what the guest was enquiring.

We booked through Singapore Airlines Holidays and chosen Grand Mercure Central Beijing at Xidan. Near the intern city train station and shopping Malls along the area. But we have indicated 2A 1K and bought 3 breakfast tickets for our hotel stay. But the replenish of toiletries sets can improve further. We requested changed of bathing towels 2 pcs, the housekeeping only replaced us back 1 pcs of bathing towel. The tub does not come with shower curtain to keep the water inside the tub and the floor gets wet easily w/o that curtain blocking. We ordered fried rice through room service and the cutlery sets don’t come w spoon. Noted their local culture don’t provide spoon unless requested but Grand Mercure is a international hotel should have standard SOP.
