People burst into our hotel room while there.

At 10:30 I had a cleaning lady burst into the room while we were still there, even though there was signage on the door not to enter. The reception apologised and offered to provide a late checkout at 2pm. However, at 12:30pm they had given a key to the room for another guest and he then burst straight into the room without warning. It was an absolute terrible experience to have someone enter your privacy in a hotel room twice on the same day.

We had a morning spa experience with a 25 minute treatment. Greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave excellent information about our morning. Shout out to the Spa therapists, Hannah, Sintija and Lucy who gave us fantastic high quality professional treatments. Highly recommend visit. Good value for money

Generally good, clean good size room including bath and shower tea facilities in room Friendly staff good location. We noticed few one star reviews related to the spar not the Hotel. Value for money so based on that four star. Breakfast very very good quality, great tasting.

We had a lovely spa day at the Mercure. It was great value! 2 x 50 minute treatments with two excellent therapists. A lovely afternoon tea too! Highly recommend. Thank you Saffron & Charlotte - we arrived frazzled and left floating!

This hotel was perfectly located for me meeting up with several groups of friends over the weekend. The welcome was friendly & efficient, I was able to check in a couple of hours early rather than bag drop, the standard room was generous & had a wonderful view of the theatres in Tudor Square. Later on, my friends & I enjoyed a bottle of wine in the beautifully decorated lounge before they went back home. I enjoyed a peaceful hour in the spa before breakfast, which was good quality. Overall, great! However, I’d intended to use Tesco vouchers for my solo treat which involved calling Central Reservations. This is clearly based abroad, I was left on hold for ages and they gave me several pieces of misinformation. It was only thanks to the wonderful, patient Eva Wang based in Sheffield itself, that booking problems were resolved. Book the hotel because it’s very good indeed. But, Mercure, sort out your central phone booking system- it really drags your reputation down.
