The hotel has a good location in the centre of Exeter with a good car park. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was a good size. Breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Broken bed worst sleep ever!

I have stayed in the Mecure Exeter numerous times and always had a pleasant experience but this time was just awful and will now not be returning! They gave us the family room as stayed with my partner and 1 year old booked in for 2 nights. Upon arriving to the room we realised the toilet flush was not working, this was bodged fixed by the manger and we were told to fix ourselves removing the cover and pull up the flush by hand! As this was a busy time of year they didn’t have any rooms for us to move to. Later that night we realised the bed was broken, the divan frame was snapped and the mattress was too big and hanging over the end of the divan. Mine and my partners backs are both absolutely killing and not the restful 2 night stay it was ment to be! I told reception in the morning about the bed which they immediately changed our room. This took up half our day moving rooms as we have a 1 year old and a lot of stuff also moving the travel cot ourself! As we only had 2 days there it was not ideal and ruined our Xmas getaway. Paige offered us 2 feee drinks and free parking which was a nice gesture. No guest should have been given that room 278! I cannot believe that they didn’t already know as at least the cleaners would have known changing the bedding as there was visible dips on the mattress. I would expect to be more reimbursed and a formal apology from a 4 star hotel.

Great location, good facilities, lovely service

Stayed here for two nights end of November and had a lovely time. Hotel was a perfect location for the Quay and Cathedral/Christmas markets. 5 to 10 mins walk. Breakfast was nice, lots of choice, our room was ample, comfy bed and amazing shower. We ate dinner in a couple of local pubs which was nice. White Hart across the road was good for dinner or a drink or two. Staff in hotel were very helpful and friendly, we were not disappointed with a lovely festive break in a lovely decorated hotel. Definitely recommend for a short break.

Great Stay, but Let Down by Leisure Facility Charges

Lovely stay at Mercure Exeter—fantastic location - a lovely run to the cathedral and quay. However, I was disappointed to find a £10 fee to use the pool and jacuzzi, something not made clear anywhere in the hotel. I paid, only to discover the jacuzzi was closed for maintenance. When I asked for a refund at the leisure desk, there was no apology and the request was refused. Thankfully, Abi at the main hotel reception was wonderful—apologetic, helpful, and genuinely kind. Although she couldn’t issue a refund due to the leisure centre being run separately, she completely turned the experience around. Thank you, Abi. I’ve since followed up with 3dleisure regarding the charge.
