Very dated and rip off parking charges

Hotel very dated. Air conditioning in the room didn’t work so my room was very warm. Staff at front desk weren’t particularly welcoming. I was also charged twice for parking. £15 when I checked in via chip and pin and they also charged parking to the card I left to charge my room. So £30 for parking overnight! I have spoken to them twice in the last fortnight and they said they would refund me but I’ve given up hope.

A pleasant stay, an excellent breakfast.

A pleasant and clean hotel to stay two nights at, with convenient walking access to much of Exeter's sites of interest, such as the splendid Exeter Cathedral. The staff were very professional and helpful. They have an excellent buffet breakfast and a tempting room service menu.

Family weekend, needs a bit of tlc.

My partners partners book for us to stay for the weekend from Friday to Sunday, for the Christmas market. All the family was staying. They had per-booked and paid for 3 parking spaces and on arrival there was no spaces available and none were revised ever, we had to seat in the car until a car moved (which after 2 hours driving I just wanted to chill). We got a space after 20 minutes of waitting, the hotel said they couldn't do anything about it as it wasn't there carpark. We got to are room and checked the bedding and there was marks on the sheets ( not just the picture), marks on the carpet, so we got changed and went down to say the bedding had marks on them, the bedside lamp on one side didn't work, the tv remote didn't turn the tv on or off, there was only 4 plugs in the room and the two near the bed were not normal plugs so we had to unplug the tv, a lamp on the deck to plug are phones in and a fan that we got from reception which had dust over it, partners sister had the same problem with her fan. The bathroom was lovely, shower was lush, but the door needed a repaint. We had food in the restaurant/bar area on the Friday evening and the food was nice but the menu needed updating ashad special on which they dont do any more, when we finished earting we asked for the bill and then we never saw any staff to pay, tried to pay at the bar but, they had a Christmas party going on and there was only one bar person, so we paid it in the morning at breakfast.We had breakfast both mornings and both morning's we had to wait over 15 minutes for ever bacon, eggs, beans or the coffee machine, on the last day the breakfast buffet was ever warm or cold if it wasn't just bought out. All in all we did have a good weekend other than the lovely storm that stopped the market which couldn't be helped. I think the hotel just needs a little up dating and some more staff to help.

Disaster and a disappointment

A string of disasters! Once a year my friend and I get to go away for the night and it’s been ruined really. We came away with high hopes of a nice chill but it hasn’t been this way. When we arrived staff were not overly helpful or friendly, given no information on anything or what time we need to check out etc. My friend checked in online to save time but we had to fill in another form when we arrived. We were charged £10 per person to use the pool facility’s - shocking! The room was dated and the tv didn’t work. The phone in our room didn’t work. We rang down to reception on our mobile to get the room service menu and were told we’d have to come down and get it ourselves despite being ready for bed in our pj’s etc. Any decent hotel would run it up to you. We had to ring again and ask for this, then they didn’t bring us a drinks menu so had to ring again. When the food came 40 minutes later we were charged £38 for one portion of chips and two drinks with a £5 room tray charge?! They also forgot to give us a jug of milk which we ordered. They gave us one sachet of ketchup with the chips which is measly!! A real disappointment! Don’t stay here it’s really not great.

So, the staff are really friendly and helpful. We had a Christmas party here. Food was fine. However, I think it's wholly wrong that during the party they had a man cleaning the ladies toilet. A lovely man, but, I don't think that's okay. I get it in a service station and places like that, but, not a quiet ladies toilet in a relatively nice hotel. Awkward for him and awkward for ladies too. I really don't think it's right and requires some sort of thought process.
