Good front desk but overall lot of room for improvement

Our experience at Novotel Al Barsha was mixed, with one clear standout and several disappointing aspects. Khusboo at the front desk was an absolute delight and deserves special mention. She was warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. She provided us with excellent guidance on tourist spots, handled our complaint regarding room size and amenities with empathy, and clearly explained the paid upgrade option—which we chose. The suite we moved into was very spacious and comfortably met our family’s needs. Her attitude and professionalism truly reflected what hospitality should feel like. Unfortunately, beyond the front desk, the experience declined significantly. In-room service was particularly poor. Simple requests such as clearing empty plates took excessively long—about 1.5 hours on the first day and around 45 minutes on the second. This is well below expectations for a hotel of this category. The food & beverage experience at the buffet restaurant was the most disappointing. Staff were generally unfriendly, rarely smiled, and showed little proactive service. There were long queues at the tea and coffee machines, no table service for beverages, and guests were never asked if they would like tea or coffee. Over a six-night stay, the breakfast buffet was largely repetitive, with almost no variation. On one occasion, we requested to speak with the restaurant manager during breakfast and were told he was on leave. The following day, we were informed that he was “busy.” When we asked if he could spare just two minutes, the server casually suggested that we try to find him ourselves while exiting the restaurant. This level of indifference was quite surprising and frankly unacceptable. In summary, Khusboo at the front desk was the sole bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming stay. While the upgraded suite was comfortable, the overall service—especially in-room dining and F&B—needs serious improvement. At present, except for the front desk experience, most other aspects are easily avoidable.

The staff at Novotel al Barsha are extremely friendly and helpful. Special mention to Trinity at the pool bar for her professionalism and politeness. I have stayed several times at this hotel because of its convenient location. The public areas are very pleasing and clean. However, the bedrooms need refurbished especially the bathroom. The grouting in the tiles in the shower is filthy and no attempt is made to clean it. This is very unhygienic. Additionally, the carpets are dirty and need replaced. Over the years the variety of food in restaurant 365 has diminished , especially evening dinner, with one area which used to provide grilled meat and vegetables now non-operational. Very disappointing. Also, if you enjoy swimming the two pools are really lovely and clean but unfortunately, because of the high buildings receive only partial sun during summer and practically none in winter. All in all I’m afraid the negatives outweigh the positives and I would not recommended this hotel to my friends. Nevertheless I applaud the staff and would give them five stars but not the hotel in general.

I would like to highlight my pathetic experience with your hotel which thankfully ended yesterday. I have been a loyal customer of yours since the past 11 years. This time when I stayed at your hotel the service was pathetic. We had to repeatedly call for towels, the tv refused to work. We called for someone to check the tv 4 times during our 3 day stya, no one came. The one time someone came it was at nite when we were going to sleep. The service was pathetic. Repeated calls had to be made with the same requests. If we called for 3 towels we were given only 2( for reasons best known to you’ll) The highlight was your conceirge. The morning of 19.12.25 , we have checked out at 5.30am. We asked for the conceirge who was standing out to get us a taxi for the airport ,he said due to floods there were no taxis and it was an impossibility and then within 5 mins he finds us a car and driver who asked us to pay 900 dhrs to drop us to the airport. The driver and the conceirge colluded to share the money. They kept whispering to each other. This was a plain and simple robbery and because we were desperate and had to catch a flight and reach the airport we were being encouraged to take the taxi. The conceirge kept calling the driver while he was dropping us to ask his share of the cut which only confirmed to us what was transpiring. Is this what accor hotel has come down to? Rob unsuspected & stranded tourists. Its one thing that a taxi driver pulls off a stunt like this and a whole other thing that the conceige who represents the hotel partakes with him. I want to raise a formal complaint to sack that particular person who was on duty at 5 am at the hotel. Even on basis of simple humanity no person would behave like this let alone with a client of his employer. We were being encouraged to pay ten times more by repeatedly being told that nothing was available and he kept pointing to some two gals at the lobby who were waiting since an hour to get a taxi. And then within 5 mins this taxi driver magicaly appears asking for 900 dhrs. Please check the cctv camera. You will know who this person is exactly. He does not deserve a job because basic humanity is missing. Taking undue advantage and par taking in robbery and holding people ransom because their desperate and stranded. This is not hospitality!or tourism ! This is robbery and inhumanity at its finest.

It was a great experience dining at Café Java. The meals were delicious, and the staff were very attentive. Special thanks to the friendly team Harriet, Sonu, Dodou, and Jasmin for their warm hospitality. Hotel have great Security team, you feel safe and valued at first visit. The place is comfortable and well managed. I look forward to returning in the future to enjoy more great service and create more wonderful memories.
