Great stay and good rooms!

Good room, location and service! The staff here is very accommodating and caring. The room is very clean and beautiful with a great view! I got unwell due to an ear infection, they had an on call doctor to help out at 2am at night and helped me change my room from a higher to lower floor at 2am at night too. So 10/10 for customer care and humanity! Very comfortable stay! Good food, overall vibe is great!

Underwhelming experience at Sofitel BKC

Very underwhelming experience at the Sofitel, stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in December 2025. Expected the service standards and guest services to be much better. - Door Lock was a nightmare, was locked out of the room for over 40 minutes missing my scheduled meetings !! - Room Cleanliness could have been better! - Staff should restock supplies themselves, rather than being asked often! - The key card tends to get non-functional randomly. Obviously is a pain to get it reprogrammed once you're back at your door. Walk all the way back to the reception to get it re-programmed, especially when you have a schedule to leave for meetings. My key card failed twice, even as I took special care to keep it away from mobile or any other device. The second time however, it locked me out of the room for over 40minutes !! This was just after breakfast, as I had to leave for an important meeting. I did the usual drill of going down to the reception again, instead of waiting a long time for their team to arrive with another keycard. Re-tried the door and still does not open. Tried to find a housekeeping staff to help as I was running late to see if they can open the door with their key rather than wasting time to go down again. The Housekeeping card did not work either and they called for security. After a bit of wait in the corridor a team member came up with another card. Did not Work! The security turned up, tried their card, did not Work !! By now I was quite late for my schedule, and my tough luck had even left my phone in the room for charging. The team fiddled with the lock trying to change the battery, or re-program the lock. Nothing worked!! And I'm there in the corridor fretting over myself for the delay. After over 40 - 50 minutes of various tricks, as soon as they bring out their drill to pry open the lock, it clicked with one of the security card. Apparently, the lock was faulty and was not responding to inputs, and they had to change it. Well it may have been a freak incident with the lock, and for me it was missed appointments due to the delay, but should they be checking the locks before the guest checks-in? What if this was a serious case of someone getting locked inside or outside during an emergency event? Or someone with a baby inside the room? The team did apologise later, however given the amount of inconvenience and distress this episode caused, I expected better. It did not appear at all that they felt the inconvenience was more than routine. - Room cleanliness was quite poor. The first morning in the shower found a couple of hair (likely from the previous guest) on the soap dispenser, and they were on the knob that one would press for soap. The bottle being white, they stood out and felt all the more disgusting. Informed this to the cleaning staff later which they addressed then. However coming back in the evening, found a large clump of hair on the floor which may have rolled out from under the bed or somewhere. Then onwards fortunately did not come across any more alien hair treasure in the room. - Also had to ask the housekeeping to re-stock supplies for the first two - three days, including water bottles, which they should refill themselves. 4th & 5th day were fine though. For work related stay, will not suggest this as the best option as usually you'd expect things to run smoothly, and timeliness become quite important. These problematic issues really made it a very poor experience.
