Good Hotel, But Service is Not as expected

As a tourist, I felt unwelcome at the reception. Some SMILE on face can really make the difference, instead of long face, and pressure/ busy look, short answers. After checked-in, there's no briefing of the hotel facilities or anything, I saw the swimming pool is under maintenance with a notice board at the reception, but there's not a word from the front desk officers. Along the stays, I have encountered at least 3-4 group of person gone into lift, and keep pressing the button without badge the card to authorize the lift access (of course than I did the ambassador job to explain to them). After they check me in, I wonder around in front of the reception area, and looking for lift to access to the room, at least twice, and no body bother to ask anything, until I walked to the reception and asked them to show me the lift in order to get access to my room. I also found it out myself on second day that the hotel guess can utilize the spa at level 3 for Jacuzzi, and steam room as well. All these bad experience is due to poor front desk services and explanation. The hotel staffs clearly need extensive training on hospitality. They serious have attitude problem. As a Accor Platinum Member, we have to specifically asked for the welcome drinks in order to get it, else it would not have given to us. We need to asked the operation time of the executive lounge (luckily I knew there's such a lounge with the hotel) else I might have missed it. No fruit platter in room as well. I done the online checked-in, and arrive pretty early around 9++am, the room was ready for us at 11:45am, maybe it was really full house, I were perfectly fine with that. As for check out, I have asked for 230pm check out, and the general line ask me to pay for it if anything later than 1pm. After specifically told them that I was Accor member and the reception can't commit anything and pass me to floor duty manager. The manager asked me to wait for his call back, so, I waited in the room for a while. And the manager called, and informed me to check out ON Time at 12noon with apologies. So I cancelled my afternoon program, and straight to the airport and waited in the lounge for 4 hours before departure. I have no issue on the facilities, room, cleanness, breakfast with the hotel, there's nothing wrong with the venue, its just the people, that pull the entire experience below Pullman par. Will I be back... Most probably no unless necessary. Bringing friends to the hotel as Accor member is kinda embarrassing.

With Covid and business resuming back to normal, don’t have high expectations. Short staffed, delay in food. Rooms not cleaned properly and you can see the walkways to the rooms really needs a good vaccum. The few staff that were there were friendly, I enjoyed my two drinks coupon on arrival. Shirt walking distance to waterfront.

Impression on Pullman Kuching

First impression on Pullman Kuching was long waiting time at the reception counter for check in, even as an Accor member. The attitude of the Club Manager, Tania who assist us for the check in was not accommodating at all, not putting any effort in assisting us with the room availability for connecting room or same floor, especially when our group booking of 8 rooms consists of children under 12 years old and the attitude was poor serving us as well. All the 8 rooms was of different floors, with only two rooms which are connected and the rest is of different floors and corner rooms (last room in the corner of each floor). After midnight, I happened to saw the receptionist has changed shift and trying our luck to check with the receptionist on duty, Shiera who willing to check on the rooms availability and manage to assist us to move one of the room. At least Shiera is putting efforts in checking it for us compare to Tania, who still claimed as the Club Manager who is not friendly at all. To our surprise, the room was not well cleaned or maintained, it was really dusty and the bathroom was very disappointing with black gunk on the floor edges, not to mentioned it was rated as a five stars hotel. The housekeeping was not answering the calls even during day time after several attempts, and it took forever for them to send our requested items such as water to the room, need to call several times to follow up and remind on it. We have been staying in Pullman globally across in the past and this is such a bad experience which we encountered and feeling disappointed with, especially with the standard and cleanliness and room arrangements when we have specified during our booking, we need connecting rooms.
