We had some issues checking in because we used a external agents to make the booking rather than booking with the hotel directly and what this wasn’t the customers fault all the hotels vote, the way that the front of House staff treated me was quite unpleasant where they said I need to contact the agents. I tried to explain to them that I cannot possibly call a European number and await their response which may not be until tomorrow and so what was I supposed to do? They weren’t very helpful and very much dismissed me. In the end, the staff that were working downstairs and the booking and reservations were the ones that helped me out and I’m very grateful to them to be honest because otherwise we felt very lost on what we can do. Other than this, I’m going to give a very honest with you, if you are accustomed to staying in a slightly higher end hotel such as Dar al Tawhid or Hyatt Regency etc , then this hotel may not be for you. It’s quite hustle bustle and extremely busy. You don’t have much of a lobby and an interior, it’s pretty much just a reception area where you check in and then you go to your rooms in the lift. You shouldn’t expect it to be a five star standard hotel where you will have nice interior design and decoration etc. It’s more a hotel made for simply sleeping. Moving onto the room, I was absolutely gobsmacked but because of the horrible experience we had been checking in and we finally managed to get this resolved, we were shattered and we just wanted to sleep so we didn’t make any further complaints but the hotel room that we were given, was drenched in the smell of cigarette smoke. Considering these are non-smoking rooms and they say that they will charge the customers, it was almost impossible that the staff who cleaned the room from the previous guest didn’t smell the extensive cigarette smell. We had to call two members of staff to come in and spray it down who also agreed that this is the smell of cigarettes and that some guest simply do not observe and respect the wishes. What puzzles me is how they allowed us to check into a room with such extensive cigarette smoke smell and me being asthmatic, this affected me all night and also my husband who is not even asthmatic! I wouldn’t stay here again, it’s an extremely hustle bustle hotel and even getting in the lift from the clocktower to come up to your hotel takes 10 minutes alone. The only good thing I can think of is the staff members downstairs working in reservations who helped me to check in but I’ll be honest with you that’s about it. The standard of the breakfast was also quite minimal.
