Noisy, poor service: Do not recommend

Despite advanced checkin for 14.00h, and arriving around 14.30, we were made to wait till after 15:15 to eventually get two downgraded rooms. The process was really slow: We waited close to 15 minutes in line, for one earlier guest to get their room. And then it took another 15minutes for us to get the keys (despite being already checked-in)... As for the rooms, they actually look very nice, whereby one room was like half the size for the same booked category. The rooms 179/180 were extremely noisy from the pipes, elevator or doors. No idea - but at least once per minute noise like in a haunted house with chains being scraped on the floor were to be heard, starting in the afternoon, all night and into the morning. The buffet was basic, with rather poor quality fruit (not ripe). When complaining about the rooms and the situation, there was absolutely no interest to correct this or compensate. So: It could have been a nice stay - but you are in risk of a total fiasko.

The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. They had complementary laundry (which we didn’t use but was a nice addition). They also gave us milk for our morning tea or coffee that was from a local dairy and was really delicious. The breakfast was also worth the cost with lots of good options.

Comfortable stay in Rotorua

Had a pleasant stay at ibis Rotorua. The room was clean, the staff friendly, and the location perfect for exploring the area. Everything worked well and felt well-maintained. My only small gripe is that, like most hotels in New Zealand, the showerhead is fixed — would have been nicer to have an adjustable one. Otherwise, all good!

Good location

This hotel was well located right near eat street so finding somewhere for dinner was super easy and convenient. The room was ok, a bit dark for my liking. No central light so all lamps were used! Bed was comfortable enough and the lifts were quite quick. Breakfast was a nice small buffet that had everything you needed. I didn’t have a hire car but it looked like car parking was free for guests, same as the laundry in the basement!

The staff at the Ibis Rotorua are always so friendly, personable, and helpful. Always greeted with a big smile. The rooms are adequate, and it is great that the guests can use the Novotel Gym and Hot Pools. It has easy access to the town and to the Lake for a morning stroll. The recent new-style buffet breakfast is also a great spread! Thank you for always being a great spot to stay at!.
