I have the worst experience in Novotel Barcelona City on my trip. First of all, I found long black hair on my towel and on my bed (no one changed my room because of that). After that, I needed to insist for more than 15 minutes with three staff to have a simple duvet, I receive the first answer because is summer they don't give the customer the duvet, however, I stayed before in Ibis Sagrada Familia with duvet without any request, the second answer was because the time of my request they don't have any duvet available. The third experience was in the pool on the rooftop on 8 September no lifeguard was available or staff to give the towel or watch the pool safely to complete the worst experience when I try to go back to my room my key-card stop to working on the lift because automatically close my stay however my check-out was possible to do until 5 pm because of that I needed to go directly to the desk to renew my key. I spent more than 6.000 points + money on this stay but I receive just 2.000 for the inconvenience on my loyalty card.

We stayed seven nights at the Novotel Barcelona City Hotel and were very pleased with the accommodations. The hotel breakfast is excellent and shouldn't be missed. We stayed in both the double rooms, which is a bed and pull out couch, and the suite rooms. The pull out couch was surprisingly comfortable and I slept just as well on that as I did in the bed. The rooms are also wonderfully quiet. The bathrooms are modern and very clean. The hotel is about a 40 minute walk to the old city, but if you prefer a cab, there are always cabs waiting right outside the hotel.

Excellent stay. Hospitality. ideal hotel for families. Comfortable and clean rooms. The people who work at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Beautyful view Near at the metrostaion. Close to shops and restaurants. beautiful area.

Reception staff Yasmine is friendly. Good location, opposite with a shopping center with lots of shops and restaurant. Wonderful Breakfast, variety foods. But the lady in the restaurant reception is impolite. Dinner - kids meal is great for my 10 years kid. Room is clean. But not provide shampoo, body wash & body lotion daily.

Parking is way overpriced (20 euros per day) but the rest was ok, we stayed only one night. The hotel is quit busy. More business oriented than leisure. Convenient location close to a shopping mall and Hypermarket.

Arrived at 12 H . room not ready . No difference even being platinum. Email sent to ask for the room at 12. Horrible smell in the street and same in the room , in the bathroom . also size of the TV screen small for an executive room

Nice hotel but.....

Novotel Barcelona is located in the vibrant Glories district of Barcelona. it has a nice market street close by and a perfect connection to tram and Metro stations in walking distances. many dining options can be found in the vicinity of this hotel. Breakfast is sumptuous but very small restaurant and can have considerable waiting times for a table during 0845-0945 hrs, to avoid queue one should wake up early as waiting period can last from 15-20 minutes. Elevators in this hotel are not easy to use. At times many guests including us found it hard to use due to swipe card issues. also there are constant elevators breakdowns which mean you can wait 15-25 minutes for an elevator as two elevators for a large hotel like this is grossly insufficient. Swimming pools is very small and not sufficient for the size of this hotel. Moreover they are not accessible during November to March as there is no heating in their outdoor pool. Front desk is very slow and unprofessional with long waiting times for access ! Its a good hotel but has small operational issues which can ruin your otherwise good experience here. will recommend only if the price is low else not worth it.

The breakfast is terrible particularly that coffee machine is disgusting , plate and is not clean as you can spot the dirty.The door for the restaurant sometime is open , sometimes is not and it’s makes customer inconvenient. Receptionist lack of knowledge, call for room service misjudged the situation , how come weekend breakfast is on 7:15 or 7:50am when there is no notice to the customer ? At least mentioned to customer when we are check in . And I don’t understand what is the purpose for priority lane when is not to served priority customer but the normal customer . Receptionist has to train well and give correct and accurate information to customer .

Great location very close to the Hop on Hop Off bus, tram and subway. Staff at the hotel were very helpful with any request. There is a shopping centre across the road with a range of excellent restaurants.

A wonderful 5 nights stay in Barcelona. Good breakfast, very clean hotel, good amenities, kids play spot and very nice and helpful staff. We definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Barcelona and we will come back!

One-week stay in Barcelona

It was not my first visit to the Novotel Barcelona City, and I was very pleased with all the services during my one-week stay. The hotel is located next to the Glories Commercial Center and there is subway and tramway to travel to the tourist center of the city. About 30 min walk to the beach and sea promenade. The hotel is very comfortable, the breakfast buffet offers a full menu with various items. All the staff is always very polite and helpfull.

As a Accor Gold-card-member , i had to insist and tell them I knew they had availabilities for the suites. Then suddenly they gave me the upgrade. It's always a problem i Spain, you had to demands for your rights as a loyal guest

Good but with minor issues

Good clean and modern hotel and the staff are all friendly and helpful. A few issues included not being upgraded automatically despite being a gold member, I had to ask to be upgraded after I check there were rooms available and they then placed us in a suite at no extra cost. Another was not being able to use points to settle the bill, I had 6000 points to use but the computer would only accept 2000 so this cost me an additional 80 euros to settle the bill. The jacuzzi on the roof wasn’t working (no water in it) which was disappointing as this was a reason we chose this hotel. The hotel staff are all great and cannot do enough for you though, rooms clean but a little tired. In the suite we had a shelf in the shower hanging off and the curling was painted but only half of it. There were flowers in the bathroom which were ok on day 1 but by day 3 smelt awful and didn’t get replaced. I would go again but would also expect these issues ironing out before I do.

Hotel is very good for stay in Barcelona city. All staff are excelent and people are very happy to attend us on our trip. The room are perfect size and facilities for our stay. Breakfast is very good and bar service on rooftop are amazing. Hotel is very good position for our mobilite in the city, metro, bus, tram are very close stations and if you prefeer walking is very good and near from many places. My only concern is about restaurant for dinner. we have bad experience with our dinner and is better to have your dinner on other restaurants in city. In front hotel are a shopping with some good options.

The hotel has a good location, the rooms are OK, the breakfast buffet is good (for example bettern than the one from the Pullman hotel which is also quite close). Some upkeep needs to be done as there are elevator buttons that aren't working, in my last room the blinds had some holes. Nothing major at the moment, but still already visible. The biggest minus is the "gym". A couple of years ago the gym was at the top floor next to the pool, but right now it is in a tiny room in the basement. There isn't much equipment (two treadmills, a bicycle, a contraption for weightworks and some weights), and the existing one is outdated and makes scary noises when used with a higher intensity. Amusingly there are also boxing gloves, but no punchbag. There are no paper towels to clean the equipment and the whole arrangement looks like someone remembered that a hotel should have a gym, but didn't really care. This is something that definitely needs to be improved.
