The location of Sofitel is very strategic, a short walk to Westlake. The room itself is extremely comfortable, with a classy modern deco, well kept and stocked with good quality amenities. We are also pleasantly surprised by the uplifting scent in the room. The staff at Sofitel are friendly, polite and very helpful all round. We especially commend the concierge. Tim readily helped us with directions, tips and recommendations for visiting Westlake and shopping in the vicinity. He also offered us a ride in the hotel car to Hefang Street for a small fare to the driver, saving us from walking in the heat of the day. Breakfast selection at the hotel is also fantastic, staff there are very attentive to the needs of guests. Overall we are very impressed during our stay at Sofitel and will recommend it to anyone visiting Hangzhou.

American Expat Couple -June 15-June 18th, 2024 - Visiting Family in Hangzhou. ALL-Accor member. Temperature during our visit was into the min 90s F during the day, hot and humid. Pros: Excellent location, Bike rentals outside the property, Bus-stop walking distance for transport to Westlake. Great in-room tea selection. Cons: Extremely disappointed with the air conditioning in room, most importantly the hotel's bizarre practice of turning off the AC in our room overnight!? We have traveled extensively and this is not a practice we are used to. Taking over control of customer room Air conditioning is not an appropriate practice. We woke up in the early morning drenched with sweat, the temperature in room was 27 C , much higher than the setpoint of 24 C with no cool air. We thought it was a maintenance issue, but the second night the same thing occurred. This ruined our rest, made jet-lag worse and put a kink in the start of our Holiday. Finally the last night of our stay we asked the front desk why this was happening and how to prevent it from occurring. The front desk staff told us it's probably because they turn off the AC overnight (!??) but they would ask the night staff to keep our AC on. That same early morning ~ 2:00 AM we woke up drenched in sweat again, room 27 C or hotter. We called the front desk at 2:00 AM and asked them to turn on the AC to our room , and immediately it started to cool down. It's absolutely ridiculous that overnight air conditioning control in-room must be requested at a hotel of this price point that advertised air conditioning as an in-room amenity. This practice felt manipulative, as it was not advertised. With many other hotels in the area, I suggest travelers stay in a different hotel.

As always, Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake delivers! Five Star service and comfort in the best spot of Hangzhou! Special thanks to the team who make the guests feel at home away from home. Nancy, Allan, Sandy - absolutely amazing service from them and the rest of the team at the restaurant. The food quality is exceptional too! Ian and the crew at the executive lounge make it super friendly and relaxing. The staff at the reception desk work like troopers - Eric, Bush and others. Always a smooth and trouble free check-in and check-out experience. Will be looking forward to coming back!

This is probably our fifth or sixth stay over the past 12 months at this hotel. Location is perfect, just an underpass away from west lake restaurants/attractions. But location is the only thing that makes this hotel stand out, it’s the service level that’s top tier for all the departments that we interacted with. We stayed for one night on 25th May after flying in to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. Had breakfast in the morning and just commented to the manager at Kwee Zen that there are no mango juice in the breakfast spread. He then asked when will we be having breakfast again at the hotel and we replied that we will be staying for three nights from May 31st onwards. He actually took the trouble to arrange for mango juice to be served during those days that we came back to stay.
