Generally the hotel was good for the price paid, I wasn't looking for a 5 star hotel. The room was clean and tidy but lacked enough bed covering, just a sheet and a very thin blanket and short of filling the whole bed. But the main problem was with the full English breakfast, I didn't get one - it was paid for in advance, and when checking in told that it was available from 6AM. As I was needing to miss the main morning traffic for a long drive to Scotland, I arrived the table just on 6, to be told full English was available from 6:30 not 6:00, a comment was made to the affect that people don't normally have "such and early start" - I left with just a continental breakfast. As to wait and eat at 6:30 would have put me in th main rush hour traffic

Fan noise all night

After staying in this hotel for one night all I can say is if they give you room 109,ask for them to change it. I got back to my room late at night around 1am and all I could hear all night was the sound of a extractor fan humming all night, had around 2 hours sleep. Terrible night

Fourth stay at Chesterfield North

This was the fourth Christmas break at Chesterfield North. It is a modern, clean and pleasant place to stay. The staff are always very welcoming and helpful, the rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. Breakfast is first class with lots of choice to suit all tastes. The location of the hotel is close to the M1 and perfect for exploring Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. We will be back again.

On arrival they saw we had a dog and actually changed our allocated room from a refurbished one to a musty smelling basic room with lumpy pillows, thin duvet, faulty sink and cracked tiles in the bathroom. This is despite being charged £10 extra for a dog (supposedly for a deep clean). They said it was one of their dog friendly rooms ... when I asked the difference they backtracked and said the refurbished rooms were for people with allergies - er but you were charging me £10 for a deep clean! Then they said they put dogs on the ground and 1st floor as it was kinder for them - like dogs can’t climb stairs! Not impressed at all - we are even part of their loyalty scheme.

Staff members are available 24/7 and are more than happy to help resolve any reported inconveniences to the best of their ability. As my colleague mentioned during check-in, we do have to allocate dog owners to specific floors as we have had previous complaints from other guests that suffer with dog allergies. The pet fee is advertised on our website and is used to cover the cost of having our housekeeping department make sure that any room that has had any pets in previously is thoroughly cleaned before new guests arrive. Always book online if you can. Cheaper than booking even direct with hotel. I made the mistake of booking direct with hotel even though I'd tried for over 48 hrs to book online on the website. Cost me £10 more each night booking with hotel. I'm a member as well.

Great staff, great accommodation

We stayed at Barlborough twice during December and both times the staff were wonderful. They were cheery, polite and helpful despite us arriving late after a trip down from Scotland to see our Daughter, Son in Law and three Grandsons. The rooms were clean and tidy, the beds comfortable and even though there is a busy pub next door (great breakfasts) it was quiet. We will definitely be staying there again.

Excellent staff, clean and comfortable rooms. First class breakfast. Ample car park. Conveniently located to motorway M1 , shops and restaurants. I have stayed at this location at least six times and have never been disappointed.

Staff were very friendly, and the rooms are clean and the beds comfy. Easy to find just off the A1 and good parking. Lift was dodgy on first day and seemed to just stop responding. Staff were aware and looked at it but no resolution, so my wife who is disabled had to climb the stairs to the second floor, which was painful for her.

I have stayed at Ibis Chesterfield North many times now and each time the service I have received has been excellent. its hard to fault. It is a budget hotel, there are no frills, it is clean, clean towels, hot water and comfortable bed. well maintained, well positioned- just off J30 on M1 on the edge of a commercial estate. Breakfast is standard English fayre, but plentiful choice and good quality. Dairy free and vegetarian options available. The staff cannot be any more helpful and welcoming. They all offer a warm welcome, are friendly without being intrusive. Rooms at the back of the hotel are sometimes subject to noise early morning. Easy parking and other reasonable eateries within walking distance.

for the money i paid it was excellent value. the rooms had all i needed for a one night stay. breakfast was ok - bacon was a bit tired and the scrambled egg looked rough. overall it was good value ...

This is not my first stay at Ibis Chesterfield North and it never fails to be comfortable warm and cosy. The staff and friendly and accommodating. I recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Chesterfield and the surrounding areas. It is easy to access the M1 from here so makes it a perfect stop for those travelling further and wish to break their journey. The Treble Bob and Mc Donald’s on site mean you don’t have to travel far for a meal. Breakfast at the hotel is good although I did have breakfast on this occasion.

Staff on Reception & bar area extremely helpful - nothing is too much trouble - but this trip sadly let down Housekeeping - mark on sheet only discovered as going to bed - too late to ask for change - room generally not good cleanliness - items left from previous occupants - NO SHOWER GEL LEFT IN SHOWER & very little left by sink - Reception did provide emergency supplies BUT found I had a skin reaction to these - Shower Gel still not replace second day so can only assume lack of stock available.went without shower this day- additional towels not available in room on this day either. If this had been my first visit may not have booked again - but knew standards could be better so give benefit of doubt

Avoid staying in room 109

I was originally planned to stay in room 109, but their was a noisy, banging machine beneath the room. I moved to room 105 which was better, but the standard of window seal was poor and you could hear the outside noise. I stay here quite regularly, but this was the worse stay. I decided to stay just one night rather than two.

A convenient base for getting by car to a range of places including the Peak District, Nottingham and the visitor attractions of the immediate area such as Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. The rooms are well designed and attractive, and well insulated with regard to sound, so one slept well. The breakfast offered a good selection. Staff are friendly and efficient.

The bed was really comfortable, and I had a fantastic sleep....right up to when a corporate bin emptying lorry woke me at 06:00. The room was large enough but was a little tired. No complaints and perfectly acceptable at the price, given I was attending a funeral. Didn't have breakfast as thought it was too pricey.
