Convenient and clean

The hotel is located right across from the train station. Easy to get into public transit from there. The station has lots of places to eat that are affordable. We bought food at the little grocery store fir breakfast and loaded up our backpacks with snacks. The rooms were clean and simple. No fridge or coffee maker, but lots of hot water with hood pressure. The area is not great- lots of vagrants, but this is not unlike any major city. We did walk the 25 minutes to Grande Place and it was safe. It was affordable to travel with older teens.

Dear Voyage659956, Thank you for letting us know that you had a pleasant stay. We are glad to hear that you found our location convenient, right across from the train station, and appreciated the easy access to public transit and various dining options in the area. It's great to know that you enjoyed the cleanliness and simplicity of our rooms, as well as the hot water and good water pressure in the showers. We understand that the absence of a fridge or coffee maker in the rooms might have been an inconvenience for some guests. However, we do offer tea and coffee making facilities in our premium rooms for added comfort. We also have a takeaway shop near the reception where you can purchase drinks and snacks. Regarding the neighborhood, we acknowledge that it can be busy like any major city, but we are happy to know that you felt safe walking to the Grand Place and found our hotel to be an affordable option for traveling with older teens. We really do hope that we may be able to welcome you back on many more occasions. Best regards, Christophe Lac, Hotel Manager

Overnight stop from Eurostar

Arrived on Eurostar from UK . Easy access from the train station so easy to leave luggage and then go back to the station to go up to central. Hotel was great - room clean and comfortable. Had drinks in the hotel bar which was reasonable. If Brussels is your destination then it would be better to stay closer to central as this is the area that you will head to for sightseeing, eating and drinking. We were staying as an overnight stop after the Eurostar and heading out early the next morning from midi so this worked perfectly for us, the teenagers were ready to head back to the hotel by 9 so we got the train back with no issues.

Handy for the Eurostar

It was very nice to see the distinctive outline of the hotel after exiting the train station, just across the road. We checked in early which was good as we were exhausted after our journey and lack of sleep. The location next to the station was also good for our return journey when we took the shuttle to Charleroi, except that it was the middle of the night and we couldn't walk via the station which was shut, and had to make a very long detour. Which brings me to the drawback of the proximity to the station, the area is not very salubrious, full of homeless and dubious types. Our first evening we set off in search of a nice cafe for supper but due to the area turned back and bought a pizza in the hotel bar. The next evening we got to the station early enough (everything closes at 21:00) and went to Starbucks then bought a salad and yogurts at the Carrefour. We could have taken the metro into the city centre but were too tired after walking around all day. The entrance to the metro is just next to the hotel, but it closes at 20:00. The hotel itself was pleasant, a good sized room, bathroom a bit cramped with no bathtub, an antiquated TV but it had BBC so I managed to watch Eastenders! The lighting was too dim, and the light over the desk didn't work and they didn't repair it despite my request which made it difficult to work in the evening. A large comfortable double bed plus a single which my daughter slept in. But - I was very surprised that there were no coffee making facilities which I assumed were standard in every hotel. I had breakfast once, though it was a bit expensive but there was a good selection of food. Although we really enjoyed our stay I think if we come to Brussels again we would stay at the Ibis City Centre where it would be more pleasant to venture out at night.

Dear Tirgumax, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are glad to hear that you appreciated our convenient location just across the road from the train station, as well as the early check-in and the spacious room. It's great to know that you found our beds comfortable and enjoyed the breakfast selection. However, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the lighting and the lack of coffee making facilities in the room. 40% of our hotel is made up of "Premium" rooms that offer coffee and tea facilities for a low price supplement. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration for future improvements. Regarding the area around the hotel, we understand that it might not be to everyone's taste, but our proximity to public transport makes it easy to explore the city center and its many attractions. The metro station next to the hotel is indeed closed at 00:00, but there are other nearby options like taxi and Uber later in the evening. We hope to welcome you back in one of our establishments. Best wishes, Christophe Lac, Hotel Manager

Problemas: O elevador de bagagens na recepção quebrado. No restaurante tinha menu, mas não tinha atendente para o jantar, tivemos que fazer a refeição fora.

Poor customer service, Junkies and rubbish around the place.

Irrespective of the many junkies and other people standing and sitting in front of the hotel, persistently offering rides to Paris and the unpleasant odor emanating from the train station located across from the hotel, my recent stay at Ibis Hotel Brussels was marred by an extremely disappointing customer service experience with the African Belgian front desk staff, specifically two girls who were working during the morning shift on the 8th and 9th of July. The staff members in question were utterly unhelpful and demonstrated a complete lack of customer service skills. They were unresponsive to my inquiries and showed no interest in assisting me, may be because I look like Middle Eastern. . Even when I asked a simple question about another Ibis hotel near the airport which I have booking, they failed to listen and instead provided irrelevant information about a nearby bus for the airport. I had to repeatedly ask them to listen to my question and check with the other hotel regarding their shuttle service, but their response was dismissive, claiming that there was no answer from the other hotel after holding the phone for a mere five seconds. To make matters worse, when I approached the same staff member for check-out, she blatantly ignored me, keeping the phone on her ear and leaving me standing for nearly five minutes without a single one word. I had to throw the key on the desk and go. Additionally, the African Belgian security guard, who was supposed to be stationed at his desk, was frequently leaning towards the reception desk and engaging in casual conversation with the receptionists. He repeatedly left his post, causing further inefficiency and neglect of his duties. The management can check the cameras and see what they are doing. The overall lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service exhibited by these individuals was extremely frustrating. It is disheartening to encounter staff members who are not only unhelpful but also fail to perform their job responsibilities adequately. This experience has left me with no intention of ever returning to this hotel. The behavior and attitude displayed by the African Belgian front desk staff during my stay were wholly unacceptable and detracted from any positive aspects the hotel may have had.

Dear Mr Whadan. Thank you for leaving us this review of your recent stay. We are sorry to hear that you felt our service fell below the standards expected of us. Our goal is to ensure all of our guests have a great experience so we regret that you were not entirely satisfied. Please accept our apologies if you don’t feel you received our usual high level of service; we take feedback like this very seriously and, rest assured, we will address your comments with the relevant team members (Reception and Safety Guard) to ensure we better meet your expectations in future. We would also like to assure you that we have shared your concern. Our team is made up of people from 35 different nationalities and there is no cultural tension. Be sure that we also treat our customers the same way regardless of their origin. The good point is our location: 2 minutes' walk from the Metro station and from the Railway station ; on the other hand, as most of the cities, the neighborhood of stations isn’t always the best and unfortunately it isn’t something we have control over ; we do apologize for the inconvenience this must have caused you. We hope you had a good stay in Brussels and gathered some good experiences. We hope you will consider staying again in one of our establishment in the future. Best regards, Christophe Lac, Hotel Manager
