Very satisfactory with some limitations

Having - like others - confused the several Ibis sites, I found the Princess Street site to be very satisfactory. However it must be noted that costs at £175 for two nights midweek seem comparable locally and therefore NOT the budget brand expected. This modern hotel is well placed, clean with good linen and housekeeping. However, negative points in an accessible room on floor 7 include the door jamming against the aircon unit and localised frame damage. Given the location, a closing nightclub disrupted sleep at 3am and - although at height - there was some disturbance from the nearby railway viaduct. Noise from lifts was occasionally fairly incessant. Evening catering was limited to text and collect; better to expensively go out or to local Tesco. Full breakfast catering was good in school catering buffet style. On balance I would return but look a little wider for that price.

Fabulous stay!

Amazing stay – everything you could wish for! The staff were absolutely brilliant – incredibly helpful, friendly, always smiling, and ready to assist with anything. The hotel is centrally located, making it very convenient. The room was spotless, the bed extremely comfortable, and I appreciated having four pillows provided – a small detail that makes a big difference. Wi-Fi was fast, and even better once I joined the free Accor loyalty program (easy to sign up for). Breakfast was spot-on – fresh, tasty, and well-organized. They also offer evening meals you can order and collect by phone, which is a great option. A welcome letter in the room included plenty of useful information about the hotel and its services. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about. I’ve already booked future stays with Ibis – highly recommended!

Disappointing Ibis in Manchester center

The dustiness in the room and in the carpeting brought on an asthma attack for which I needed to go to Manchester Infirmary to be taken care of. This is the first Ibis where I have stayed that does not have air-conditioning and because one cannot open the window more than a few centimeters, we could not ventilate the room sufficiently. I did ask if there were any rooms without carpeting but the answer was no. Since I had prepaid for a stay at the end of our trip as well, I wrote to the hotel asking if they would refund my payment since I was afraid that I might have another asthma attack if I stayed there again. No answer from the hotel. I would have appreciated at least a negative response to no response at all. We returned to the hotel as planned since I didn't want to lose the payment money. I asked if there were any rooms that had been more recently refurbished as I thought maybe there would be less dust imbedded in the newer carpets. I received a room that was supposedly recently refurbished and thankfully, I did not have any further problems. I am writing to complain about the lack of response to my email, and to complain about the cleanliness of the first room we stayed in.

First Disappointing Service at a Hotel I've stayed for 10 nights

I'm a frequent guest at this Ibis location (this is my 10th night), but my recent experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival at check-in time after work, I was assigned a room on the first floor (the lowest floor for standard rooms), which was disappointing. When I politely requested an alternative room, the receptionist made a cursory attempt to check but quickly dismissed my request with "we are very full today." The front desk supervisor (someone more senior as she was not in uniform) overheard our conversation unhelpfully added that "all rooms were pre-arranged" - as if this prevented any accommodation of guest preferences. As a returning customer and a regular traveller as an Accor Platinum member, I am aware rooms can be reassigned if not occupied. "Pre-arrangement" seems like a convenient excuse to avoid a simple request. All rooms were the same price category so my preference should have been considered. Furthermore, the receptionist seemed unfamiliar with my booking details regarding the included breakfast (booked through an online agent). The breakfast was shown differently on their system when not booking directly from Accor, and the supervisor knew that. Despite having stayed here numerous times with the same rate without issue, the supervisor insisted I pull up my confirmation to show her and prove to her the breakfast was included. It was the hotel’s responsibility to make sure booking details are up and running, so asking me to do the work for them seemed very awkward and it seemed she was not aware this was an inconvenience to customers - not a single apology was made nor at least acknowledging that I was doing her a favour. The staff needs better training on handling room preference requests with genuine effort i.e. if the preferred room was not available then offer alternatives rather than ‘we don’t have that’ or ‘all rooms are preassigned’ Also, understanding how different booking platforms appear in their system. And finally, basic customer service - particularly the front desk supervisor I encountered. It didn’t seem like her attitude was intentional but I’m sure there are better approaches to customer requests. I've stayed at Ibis Budget and even cheaper hotels where staff were very easy-going with room requests and demonstrated better service overall. Disappointing experience for a loyal customer.

Very noisy throughout

I came to stay obviously to get a good night sleepo as any guest would, and after initally putting me in the 'premium' rooms on the ground floor, which cost reasonably more than the normal rooms to find out that it is facing Factory nightclub, a famous student nightclub that runs till late on most night, the bass leaks through into the rooms and kept me up until very late. I decided to change rooms at 1am after being unable to sleep Not to mention the laundry room is right outside these premium rooms on the ground floor wich makes it loud no matter what room you go! Speaking to the manager the next day, he advised me that moivng up to the hiogher floors would be even noiser due to the rubbish truck that comes early in the mornign as they arent allowed in the city past 8am, the laundry truck that consistently came at 5am each morning! I would not advise staying here if you need a good night sleep or any comfort in sleep either
