Worth a stay after all these years!

We first stayed at this hotel in 2007 when it was relatively new. Many of the things we liked about it are still applicable today: excellent location, very large and clean rooms for the price, comfortable beds. We have never had a negative experience in the times we have stayed, but we are independent travellers and don't expect to be waited on hand and foot and everything just the way we like it (reading some of the reviews of this place remind us how spoiled some people are). The breakfast was good when we had it, but is on the pricey side; there are plenty of cafés and coffee shops nearby if you don't want to pay for the extra convenience. The bar is pleasant and a nice place to hang out in between things to do. Since 2007, there have been a few refits, especially the bathrooms and the reception areas. These were welcome, but the rest of the décor in the rooms is looking a little dated and tired. If I was asked to advise, I would retire the orange/blue colour scheme and replace the carpets. Is this a deal breaker for us? No. However, one complaint we would share in common with others we read is that the safe didn't work when we arrived and never got fixed when we pointed it out. Fortunately it wasn't a big deal for us! Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a convenient, spacious and clean place to stay.

We stayed in a superior suite with double bed and sofa bed. It was very large with a separate bedroom which was huge and a separate living room. Was a great place to stay. Very convenient location. Staff were very helpful.

We had a bad start to our three day trip with our flight being diverted and we did not arrive at the hotel until 1 30 am. We were very tired and hoped for a fast check in but was told we owed an extra 680 euro which was a shock as we had already paid approx 360 euros. The guy on reception told us the amount we had paid was just for one night and asked us to pay the rest. We spent half an hour discussing this until we finally said we needed to sleep and would discuss in the morning. I didn’t sleep as was worrying about what had happened however the receptionist the following day advised we owed nothing and didn’t understand why we were told different. She told us to go and enjoy breakfast. I asked if this was included and she advised yes. The next two days were enjoyable, our room was lovely however on checking out we were told to pay an extra 150 euros for breakfast x 3. I explained reception had told us it was included but the guy on reception told us he was sorry but there was a lack of training in the hotel and they were wrong and we had to pay. I didn’t want to ruin the holiday by having a row but felt upset about the treatment from the reception team. The cleaners and breakfast staff were very good however with the rooms being very clean and a good choice of breakfast available. Just be careful when checking in and out.

Good Hotel in a quiet location despite only being a 5 minute walk from Checkpoint Charlie and the U Bahn station. Large rooms complete with, strong free WiFi, fridge and a cool decor. Make sure to bring swimwear to use the sauna on the top floor to relax after a day of sightseeing. The hotel bar has a selection of local draft beers. The Bitburger is extremely good! All main sights in Berlin are walkable from this hotel. A really good base to explore the city.

This was a great hotel. Stayed here for the Berlin Marathon, and it was perfect. The location is great, walking distance to many attractions. Easy access to the transit. The rooms were large and comfortable, and it was a very clean hotel. The breakfast buffet was amazing. One of the best I have ever had.
