i thought the ibis budget potsdamer hotel was 5 stars for location, closest to S bahn anhalter bahnhof or U bahn Potsdamer platz, the breakfast though 11-12 euros, were plentiful, rooms clean comfortable. like most inns in europe, there was no air conditioning which made it stuffy at times during summer, when i went in august. english was fine for guest services too. only minor detail was that housekeeping is every 2-3 days, otherwise incurs a charge. this was apparently in the interests of the environment but i wonder. i would highly recommend this place to stay if one is planing on visiting berlin , exceptionally for the kultur forum- gemaeldegalerie, musik-instrumenten museum, documentation centrum, topographie of terror, check point charlie , kunstgewerbe (decorative-applied arts), kuper-stich-kabinett. potsdamer platz is also a great shopping mall with food readily available for purchase. even the museum island is not too far away, and brandenburg torgate, and reichstag were a quick train ride away.

We stayed here as a family of 2 adults and 2 teens…it is a budget hotel and we got it for an even better rate when we booked on the Accor website. I couldn’t fault it.. the beds were excellent, it was a small bit noisy at night so if you are a light sleeper maybe check out the room options. The breakfast was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and very amenable to us checking in a small bit earlier and leaving our luggage on the day we left. The rooms are small and you wouldn’t really hang out there but for a hotel in the city centre when you are in Berlin to sightsee and have two hanger ons (teens) who don’t pay their own way, I can only give it 5 stars

The hotel is very basic. The beds are very uncomfortable and squeaks all night. The room is tiny bit clean. There is hardly a working space for the business traveler. Staff is ok but not the most hospitable. Hotel location is great though for visiting historic part of Berlin.
