Looks like a nice hotel but wet carpets, prostitution and deranged guests made out stay frightening

We stayed 3 nights - it was my birthday weekend. We travelled all the way from North Yorkshire and found our room had a wet patch on the carpet by the shower. It was growing so we told the staff. We went out to eat and when we came back were told we had to move rooms. This is now about 10pm and we were exhausted. So we took the new key and emptied our room only to find the new key did not open the new room and so we had to go all the way back to reception and get the key fixed. The second day we realized the lady opposite us in room 328 was seeing various men during the day. She was wearing her dressing gown, going down in the lift (in her dressing gown) and letting them in the door where the lift is (where you need the keycard to get in). These men waited on the sofa to be let in by this woman (an actual waiting room)!. That night there was horrendous banging and we couldn't sleep until about 1:30am. The following morning we told the receptionist about the lady entertaining men and she said the lady was booking out that day and there was nothing they could do to stop this happening! (I will not stay in any hotel that allows random men in and prostitution). So we went out and enjoyed our day and came back very tired. That banging was going on again. So bad it was scary, it was making the structure of the building shake. We went and reported it to reception and a lovely member of staff came to investigate. He found the source and tried to speak to the person in the room (we think 325). There was no answer and we hear him speaking to him later around 1;30. We were booking out the next day (totally exhausted after our stay) and when we checked out we asked what was the cause of the banging. We were told a guest had been given a warning and because of data protection they wouldn't tell us what caused the banging. Then I gave this list of what had happened and was given a business card to complain. Since then we have had no response at all (we sent the review initially on Booking.com on 26th Nov an now we are at 4th Dec).

Clean, comfortable and relatively well located. Friendly staff, simple breakfast. Can’t complain for a budget hotel. Only down side was the shower. Not the best, but as a budget hotel it was ok.

Great hotel and location. Close to the station. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable with good breakfast provided. Lovely and clean hotel. Will be staying here for the next 3 weeks
