Bad Experience, Charged $277 when I didn't stay

This hotel has hundreds of rooms and is next to one of New Zealand's largest private hospitals. I had booked for 5 nights with the hotel. I was having heart surgery. I was staying pre surgery in the hotel and after surgery. In between my husband was staying there on his own. I was due my heart surgery the day after checking in. When I checked in and went to my room there was no opening windows at all. I could not afford to contract COVID or any other air borne illness before heart surgery. I went downstairs, explained the situation about heart surgery and asked for a room with an opening window for ventilation. I was told the hotel has no rooms with opening windows. I had booked and paid for 5 nights, I paid extra for it to be fully refundable. I had to check out. They only refunded 4 nights and charged me one night at $277. WHY? We then had to go out and try and look for alternative accommodation at a time when I should have been stress free and relaxing before surgery. If a hotel with hundreds of rooms has no opening windows, this should be made clear on booking. After all Covid is not a new respiratory illness and they are right next door to a Hospital so it makes sense that patients will stay there prior to surgery and after surgery if they are from out of town like I am. I wrote multiple emails re this matter but have go no where. I am still $277 out of pocket.

Stayed at the hotel on my late night arrival into Auckland. Had chosen the hotel due to the proximity to Cornwall Park Parkrun, and was not disappointed, as it was very close and easy to get to. Was also close to the airport, so a quick trip late at night. The room was comfortable and the hotel had parking which was good. An added bonus is that they have a water station to fill water bottles easily accessible near the elevators which was very helpful to fill my water bottle before heading off on my day’s travel.

Seamless experience from checking in to leaving. Large comfortable rooms super comfortable bed and conveniently located 20 minutes from the airport. Also attached to an Ibis Hotel the staff are friendly and professional. Also within walking distance of a Woolworths and McDonalds. Also beautiful Cornwall Park is nearby for a stroll. The only downside is the ludicrous cost of Super Shuttle return 94 NZD to the airport!

Hotel was clean, reception staff were not friendly, very abrupt on talking to us. Reastaurant and bar service was very slow. At breakfast there was very little food, most had been eaten by the Rugby League team staying there. Not a pleasant stay.

We stayed for 5 nights. Excellent location. Great rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Seamless check in and check out. Plenty of parking space. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
