After years of visiting the Sofitel Magnificent Mile and always being well taken care of with upgrades to corner suites, I was told that they weren't available as they were all sold out. Ironically, I had checked by looking at the app in the taxi to the hotel and would have been able to book 3 of them for the entire duration of my stay. I wasn't about to fight it, but it told me a lot about the mindset of the hotel and Accor these days. Also, regular cleaning of the room is something you now need to ask for explicitly, which is a bit odd, and also shows the priority of cost cutting vs customer service. All things being equal, I have stayed loyal to Accor for the benefits, but if they're no longer there, a lot of hotels in the area provide an equal or better room and experience for the money. I'll pass on the hotel next time in favor of exploring new options...

Poor. It’s a 5 star hotel but staff was rude and despite me asking for a daily room cleaning, which was told could be done if asked for in the morning, my request was not honored.

Great stay at this hotel. I was able to checkin early for a small fee. My room was clean and I appreciated the free bottles of water. Room service was great and Cesar Salad w/shrimp was delicious!

The Sofitel is our "go to" hotel in Chicago and this was our first visit since the pandemic began. I have 3 perspectives to share. (1) From a COVID perspective: we felt 'safe' for the most part. While it was good to see staff wearing masks, many guests in the lobby were not. We left the restaurant as it became more crowded. (2) Our room was clean. But, on our arrival, there was a long black hair in the bathroom that was clearly not ours. And, one of the robes had holes and was thread-bare. There were no slippers (which have always been provided), so we wore our shoes in the room which was uncomfortable. (3) the staff we met were polite and made us feel welcomed. I imagine this has been a stressful time for them.

Room comfortable and good location for restaurants. Breakfast at hotel restaurant very good. One problem was no heat in the room. This was fixed by maintenance after several calls.

Upgraded to prestige suite, vouchers for breakfast and cocktails. Happy, happy! Requested additional bath robe. Delivered by employee, who when we didn’t hear door knock, left robe on room desk, ignored cash, cell phone, wallet on desk. Kudos to whoever came to our room (701) at 5pm, Friday November 12, our commendation!

Great location, clean room, nice bathroom, good restaurant food, comfortable bed, attentive and friendly staff, but still barely satisfactory. Here are the shortcomings: Very poor lighting in room. Poorly designed room layout making it impossible to open closet door all the way. Terrible non relaxing music in restaurant/lounge with a corporate policy to not change genres, but a willingness of staff to turn down volume. Very poor service by one employee at breakfast who came across as a burned out professional who couldn’t wait to get off his shift who delivered cold food while everyone around us who was lucky enough to have a different waiter getting their orders taken and food delivered much more efficiently. Too much use of plastic water bottles with no obvious place to recycle in the lobby. No place to recycle in the hotel that we were able to find.

I enjoyed the room view, the bed and drinks at the bar. The concierges were AMAZING. Got us perfect reservations and were very attentive. The one complaint is the silly amenity fee you charge. This is a rip off. Internet and any other service in a 5 star hotel should be included in the price of the room. Otherwise it’s misleading. I’m very upset about this even though 20 dollars is a neglectable amount. It just comes across as cheap and sneaky

Morgan (I think that was her name) checked us in upon arrival. She was genuinely thoughtful, practical, and professional in demeanor. The entire staff was impressively responsive to our (my wife and I) requests. We simply texted the number Morgan provided, and our wishes were their commands. The room was clean, and the views were amazing. I can’t provide enough positive words for the entire staff: from check-in to room service to cleaning to check-out, their level of service and response times were impeccable. We also couldn’t ask for a better location—central to everything. My wife and I were quite impressed, especially for two travelers who usually shy away from hotels. We would definitely stay at Sofitel Chicago again and any other associated hotel around the world. Bravo!

Having stayed at this hotel many times and over many years this wasn’t what I’d expect from the hotel. Terrible check in (I was bounced between 3 different people all of which didnt understand the process) I pointed out that I was a Diamond level guest which fell on deaf ears. I was told “next time book through our website “ I explained I was on business travel and my firm one of the largest in Chicagoland mandates Amex travel. I received an ok room but not offered any special service. Two weeks later I still have no record of my stay or points. Irony is the booking did show up on the Accord website . Still does.

Understated elegance in the Water Tower complex

Sofitel is one of my favorite hotel brands. The recently renovated Sofitel in Chicago is elegant and refined, without being ostentatious. My husband and I enjoyed our four nights in the Sofitel Magnificent Mile very much, and will be back! Although we are not handicapped, we were given a handicapped room (which is fine). Areas for improvement are all related to the bathroom in the room we stayed: 1. No hooks for towels; there is no where to hang the towels to dry. Please add hooks or towel racks 2. Not enough ledge space in the shower. There was one small ledge that can barely fit a full bottle of shampoo (or the three travel sized toiletries provided by Sofitel). Please add more ledges in the shower 3. Shower door. The glass door doesn't completely seal, so when water hits the glass shower door, it automatically leaks onto the floor (a lot of water gets on the floor - three bathmats to soak up!) A Wonderful Stay Fantastic Food & Beverage & The Staff Is Over The Top to make the stay special the lounge is beautiful great service nice fireplace the views from the the prestige suites are awesome. the stores to shop at are great the restaurant and entertainment is in close proximity
