Mildew, mold and no-wifi!

I have stayed at several Ibis properties in the past and have come to expect a consistent standard of cleanliness, comfort, and basic amenities. Unfortunately, our experience at this location fell short of those expectations. The condition of the bathroom was unacceptable. There was visible black mold in the grout and on the showerhead—something that not only reflects poor maintenance but also poses a health risk. Additionally, the towels were covered in mildew spots, which is both unhygienic and unacceptable at any accommodation. Secondly, we were surprised and disappointed to find that there was no Wi-Fi available during our stay. In today’s travel world, reliable internet access is not a luxury but a basic necessity, especially for guests who rely on it to plan ongoing travel arrangements. This lack of connectivity caused significant inconvenience for us. I would like to acknowledge, however, that the front desk staff member on duty was extremely courteous and went out of his way to assist us, particularly in trying to find nearby alternatives to access Wi-Fi. Their professionalism and willingness to help were very much appreciated. While I understand that occasional issues can arise, the combination of poor room cleanliness and the absence of basic amenities such as Wi-Fi made our stay unsatisfactory. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and I trust that steps will be taken to address these problems so that future guests do not face the same issues.

Nice and pet friendly, rooms need update

Hotel is nice but a bit outdated. Bathroom has everything it needs but needs an update. Shower is small. Bed is ok but the topper is flimsy and moves during the night when you turn. No power outlets near the nightstands, i feel this is a must in 2025. They say close to the cablecar to go to mount pilatus but its still a 3 km walk. The hotel is obliged to send you the tourist discounts via mail but they do not do this and give you a paper at check in and this is easily forgotten. The staff is friendly and it is clean. We went with our dog and they are pet friendly

Easy to get into Luzern.

Check-in was great with the male receptionist ensuring we were aware of the local travel card included with the room, and where the local train station was (~10 mins walk). Parking is underground at a discounted rate of CHF 14. The room itself was a decent size for the three of us (one additional bed brought in) albeit slightly basic but the hotel is in a great location only two stops on the train (~5 mins) from Luzern main Station. Bathroom had an interesting decor, including mirrored ceiling (!) but was clean with a good shower and decent toiletries (separate shampoo & conditioner). The building cooling system is external shutters that open/shut to block the sun however even though it was a warm evening a combination of having the windows open and the provided fan meant we all slept well. One thing worth noting for UK guests is that the room only had one plug (not next to bed) that fitted the standard UK/EUR adaptor. The majority of the plugs in the room are tripe inset plugs which would allow 3 EU plugs to fit but because they are are inset do not allow a single adaptor to fit. There were no USB charging points. Breakfast is a slightly sad affair in the back room of the bar, however there were plenty of cold options plus some eggs, sausages and pancakes. Staff were very helpful and I would definitely stay here again if visiting Luzern.

Good stay

The room was just as pictured on the website. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were on the thin side. Good bathroom. Very quiet. Elevator to the rooms and the parking garage. Very easy parking right under the hotel. CNN on TV. Wifi was OK, it would have these brief pauses sometimes. We did not have breakfast. Excellent location. A five minute walk to the train station followed by a five minute ride take you to the train station in Lucerne. There is a grocery store at the train station. I would stay here again.

Great stay and exceeded expectations

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, clean and the shower room a decent size too. Grateful to have hand towels as well as bath towels (some Ibis of this grade provide only bath towels). Most welcome was the small fridge and the kettle. So lovely to be able to make a hot drink whenever we wanted. Plus of course the superb view of the mountains. We had a warm welcome at reception. Svetlana was able to explain was was available locally, gave us a map and the Luzern visitor cards which gave free use of trains and buses within Luzern (zone 10). We used Kriens Mattenhof station to the centre of Luzern, but the 14 bus is another option. The trains are frequent and the journey only takes 4 minutes. The area around the Mattenhof station is under redevelopment, so it was good to be sufficiently distant for noise from building works not to be an issue (a short walk). There are shops, cafes and restaurants in this area. We liked Jack's Cevap house for casual dining. The Migros supermarket is great for picking up milk and other provisions, but note they don't sell alcohol (there is an Aldi store in the area). The hotel is on the edge of a commercial zone and an established residential one; we looked over family homes. We found it to be quiet and were pleased we'd chosen this for our three-night stay.
