I had a wonderful experience at Social 45 in the Sofitel New York, thanks to Brian. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuinely welcoming personality made the evening exceptional. He anticipated everything we needed and made us feel truly taken care of. Brian is a standout member of the team, and I highly recommend stopping by if you want great service and an even better atmosphere.

Sofitel NYC was always my default choice for stays in New York. After two recent stays not anymore and such a downfall makes me to question the branding of Sofitel altogether. Many things in that particular hotel changed to the worse direction. The positive things left from the past are decent size of the rooms, perfect location, hot water, comfortable bed and good selection of the drinks in the bar with smiling bartenders. Other experiences, after arriving rather late and finding hotel looking rather derelict and abandoned with no staff in view at the first site, were truly bad. Starting point was no greeting of loyal guest whatsoever, neither as loyal to hotel neither as Accor loyal customer. Rather opposite, even the welcome drinks had to be separately requested. Also, expect to be kind of double charged because a hotel policy to place the hold of about double of your real charge on your CC, which will not be released after you are checking out. Can confirm the plastic bottles for water, no slippers in the room, restricted bathroom amenities and, if the announced renovation was indeed done, I did not spot any sign of that - doors were scratched and with signs revealing intention to open with force, curtains were rather loose on points on hangers, etc - all typical wear and tear signs one sees in hotels. The recent management change seems to be affected also the politeness and "we can" attitude of the service toward guests. One could feel the fear about being immediately fired if any mistake in "system" will happen, in such extent that as the guest one feels kind of nuisance, taking time from the real need to please a "system". Sincerely recommend avoiding the hotel at the moment as the money spent does not deliver really the value.
