Location was great. Street is quiet and walkable to many sites and shopping/restaurants. Room decor, amenities and bed comfort all good. Hotel is quiet, almost too quiet. New lounge/bar feels awkward with a weird vibe. Lighting and music is off. Makes it unwelcoming to stop in for a drink before or after evening plans. Service was also very slow in the bar. Feels like they’re trying to find their vibe and it comes off as inauthentic. Tried it a few times and then chose to find a local spot instead. Doormen, front desk and housekeeping staff were all great. If you’re just looking for quiet and comfy, it’s great. If you want a little atmosphere, it’s not the place.

The new remodel is beautiful. The lobby, restaurant and rooms all updated and sophisticated. The staff are welcoming and attentive and it feels like home in the middle of the bustling chaos of the amazing city surrounding it. If warm luxury is your preference, look no further.

We very much enjoyed our experience at Sofitel New York. Our suite was comfortable, and met our needs well. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The location was great, conveniently located to public transit and Midtown, while not being too chaotic. One recommendation I did have is to have a mirror somewhere else in the room, besides the bathroom. A full length mirror would be helpful as well.
