I agree with earlier reviews that the hotel is due for refurbishment and renovations in places. But. It is a beautiful hotel, still. For this price, where else in this area can you get a table at breakfast and dinner with those views, or sit by a stone fireplace with a glass of wine with those views, or snag a room with those views? It's right next door to a hospitality training facility, and if any students are training at the hotel, they are putting in a lot of effort to be good at what they do: service overall was excellent, and almost all the staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Special thanks to all three of the breakfast managers we encountered for all their help with dietary requirements, and to Hannah, Anu, and Mercedes at reception. I was perfectly happy to trade off the ageing decor and extra two minutes' drive out of Queenstown for a great rate, warm and friendly service, incredible views, and all the facilities of what is essentially still a five star hotel if you have the mindset to see it for what it is. We extended our stay by several days and would happily stay here again. Tips: Plenty of gluten free options. The walk into Queenstown is much shorter than Google maps suggests, but it is uphill for the first two hundred metres and will take longer for younger walkers or those with adaptive needs. Coming back is mostly uphill from the lake, or it's a couple of stops on the bus from the Crowne Plaza bus stop to the Heritage bus stop, and a short uphill walk from there. Or get off at the next stop and it's an easy 4 minute downhill walk instead. There's a beautiful walk down to the lake esplanade via the trail just past the Heritage bus stop -- much nicer than the sidewalk, and my kids loved it.

Friendly staff, nice design, good food. Staff are friendly, special thank housekeeping staff conrodo,ayani and shunta they cleaning nicely room bed was amazing the foods are yummy. Comfortable bed and hot water pooI love it and sure will go again .

We have enjoyed every stay we have had at the Mercure. As we couldn't get into our Fernhill house we stayed for 3 days at Mercure. Your hotel is superb. However your staff are exemplary. Everyone has been so personable and professional. Give a shout out to Fuo, who managed the bar every night we were there. He is awesome as a manager. Such a joy to deal with. NZ needs more people like him. Also well done with your happy hour. Each night involved having friendly chats with various people. We had a great stay. Garry and Deborah (406)

Booked here as free parking on site rather than pay and be right in town.Nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the centre but still only a 30 minute walk , 10 minute drive or a bus stop 5 minutes from hotel. We paid extra for a Lakeview room. We were on the second floor . Would have been nice to have a balcony or be able to sit outside but obviously this was not in the design brief when the hotel was built. Very friendly and helpful check in staff. Enjoyed one of the two spas but did not attempt pool as the water was frigid. Such a shame as a nice looking pool and could have been heated. Why have a pool if it can’t be used? Room was modern, quiet and had a mini fridge and kettle/jug. One of the sheets had an unpleasant stain so we left a note for it to be changed the next day which it was. Housekeeping should have noticed when initially making the bed.
