A great hotel with a brilliant view

The Hotel is our go to hotel in Queenstown. We have stayed there often. Our last trip was wonderful as usual. The views are outstanding. The food is very high quality. The best part of the Hotel is the staff. A shout out to Sunjay, Lucy and Fou. They were each very personable, with a great attitude. Our stay was so much more enjoyable with your excellent staff.

Stayed for 2 nights. Check in was smooth. Rooms were good sized and clean. Comfortable bed. Good amenities (slippers, tea coffee), still and sparkling water station at the bar. They have started charging $15 for on-site parking (alternative park on the street for free). Sauna, gym, Swimming pool and hot tubs are available. Great view of the lake from the courtyard (through restaurant). Will definitely stay again for sure.

Very tired hotel; but solid air conditioning

The hotel felt overpriced for what it was; I realize this is a tough topic, since EVERYTHING costs more. However, this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in New Zealand, and it was not worth it. The structure is extremely tired - everything is old. The views are nice, the air conditioning worked well, and the bed was comfortable. But that's it! Location: The location was ok, but a rather long walk to the town center. The hotel charges for parking on- site. $15/night as of February 2025. Breakfast: We paid extra for the breakfast, and that was a mistake. The food was ok, but nothing special. They may have had a big group just leave (that was the only explanation I could come up with, although I didn't see any large group), but they seemed stretched thin. I had to even ask for clean plates and napkins - the supplies all needed restocked. The breakfast personnel were great, but it felt silly to need to ask for a plate. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't bother staying near the town center (I'd stay in the Frankton/Five Mile vicinity), and I'd just pay to park in a parking garage if I wanted to hit up anything in town.

Priceless views, dated resort

The views across Lake Wakatipu are absolutely stunning. Without this natural wonder, Mercure Resort Queenstown would not rate well at all. Apart from a comfortable king sized bed, the rooms are very dated and come with stained carpets and lamp shades (pretty poor to be honest). The bathroom appeared to have had some kind of upgrade however, it was dreadful and looked cheaply finished. This place (like so many Australasian Accor Hotels) is in desperate need of a major upgrade. On top of this, I will no longer we striving to maintain Accor Gold status through exclusive loyalty to Accor. There is no room upgrades (ever) and late or early check ins/outs are minimal and in this case, provided after much reluctance. Tip, Accor Silver is the way to go and once reached try alternate accomodation offerings that rate far better.

Comfortable amenities. Soft bed. Great view of the lake if you are situated that side of the accommodation. FREE parking. What I found most weird was that the lift travelled from floors 1 to 4 yet the restaurant was in the Basement with, purportedly, no lift access. I was also unhappy that the main light switch in the room was by the entrance yet there was no alternative switch above the bed On the other hand I can recommend the Golden Honey Fizz - it is the best drink I have had ever in my 80 years of life!
