Nice decor but cannot recommend

We live out of town and usually stay at the same 5-star central Wellington hotel every time we come to the city. We decided to try Movenpick for a change as the reviews were great. Upon check in I was told we’d received an upgraded room - great start. We did not actually receive an upgrade. We received the room we paid for, which was fine. The room was lovely with a nice view. Comfortable bed and furnishings, clean bathroom, and nice tea and coffee selection. However, it was next to the carpark/service elevator. We didn’t realise this till we returned from dinner and tried to sleep. Reception assured us it would be out of use by 11pm. Fine. Not fine, it started again at 5.48am. The lift is very noisy and right next to our room. Through the wall in fact. We couldn’t sleep so called reception to find out when breakfast starts, and they didn’t answer. Perfect end to the worst sleep I’ve had in a long while. Despite the pleasant decor, between the non-existent upgrade (we didn’t ask for and didn’t expect till we were told we’d been given one), lack of sleep, and unanswered call to reception, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Beautiful rooms and hotel - Customer service is amazing. We've stayed here a couple times for our business events and everyone in our team say 5star quality. I highly recommend movenpick if you're staying in Wellington. Also got the buffet in the restaurant

Well appointed hotel above wellington. Due to the nature of Wellington (very hilly) there’s a bit of a walk up from town, but nothing too strenuous at all (especially if you use the elevator that goes to the bottom of the tower and not the reception level) The room was as you’d expect for a 4/5 star hotel and the team were helpful. Good to have car parking and a short drive to the airport so good if you want to see the city but get easy access to the airport

We loved staying there, not only is it convenient to the cbd but also quiet, but it is comfortable, friendly, professionally run, with excellent food and facilities. The pool is big, the beds are great, the views amazing, and the staff wonderful.

Los hoteles de esta cadena nunca me defraudan! Este Mercure esta a pocas cuadras del centro ; en una zona alta que nos permite tener hermosas vistas! Rodeado de casas tipo victorianas; y varios barcitos. La habitacion era grande y limpia; con un gra ventanal que nos permitia ver la hermosa ciudad y su puerto! El desayuno suficiente y el personal muy amable!!!!!
