Disappointing Stay with excellent Customer Service from Joe and Steve, guys who sorted TV out for us.

Very disappointing experience at Novotel Rotorua Lakeside Hotel, especially given the expectations for cleanliness and service. The state of the room, with dust, mold, and an unclean toilet, seems unacceptable for the price we paid. Its frustrating when facilities like TV are broken and not immediately addressed. However, it's great that Joe and Steve provided excellent customer service, offering apologies and resolving the issues promptly. They made a positive impact despite the overall dissatisfaction with the room. Hopefully, the hotel can address these cleanliness issues for future guests.

Dirt, dust, and mold

The rooms are unfortunately filthy... Dust in corners of the room, hair clumps, dirty glasses, dead spiders in the closet, black rings in the toilet. Don't expect a cleaning service or room refreshment, even for toilet paper you have to ask 4 times at the reception before you get it to the room.. The hotel is also old, so the facilities are not the best. But the dirtiness is what got me. Thank god the bed sheets looked clean!! :D The staff was very nice and friendly. But that was the only positive side of this stay.

Dirty Hotel And Management Did Nothing

We spent 3 weeks in New Zealand and this hotel was terrible because it was so dirty. My husband complained to the front desk and asked for the duty manager to contact us. We were in the hotel for 3 days and heard nothing at the check out I complained to the front desk as well. M husband received a weak apologetic email with no person's name for us to contact (probably AI generated) on it . I have stayed in Novotel's before by after this experience I doubt I will again. See the photos attached it was disgusting certainly not a 4 four star hotel. Also there are a lot of tour buses using this hotel so breakfast is less than great. Went down one morning and the buffet was picked over there wasn't even any jam!

Avoid this hotel!

I received a parking infringement ticket for when I was staying at Novotel lakeside Rotorua despite being told I could park in the car park for free. When I arrived at the hotel I was told that I could use the hotel car park and if I signed up with an Accor membership the parking would be free for my stay at the hotel. The gentleman who I believe was the manager actually completed the membership application for me and told me I could park in the car park for free. I have now received an email telling me that I had parking infringement for parking there during my stay at Novotel. I have just called the hotel and the receptionist gentleman accepted liability and told me that this was down to your error and if I emailed the infringement notice to you it would be sorted out. However despite numerous emails I am being ignored and getting no response. Please note there is also a charge from the hire car company because they have charged an admin fee. This is your error, please sort this out ASAP!

This was the most disappointing hotel we stayed at during three weeks in NZ. The hotel does not feel clean; there was dirt on the carpets in the lobby and the hall on our floor (do they even own a vacuum cleaner?); the carpet in our room was stained, and the second morning there was no hot water in our room. The hotel feels tired, and it really needs a make-over. The only thing that keeps this from being a one-star review is the location and the breakfast buffet, which was not bad. I am sure there are better options in Rotorua.
