Novotel Palm - no longer our home from home

ARRIVAL We returned to Novotel Palm Side for our 1st stay since 2015 (3rd time in total).  Check in was quick and painless and we were given a beautiful refurbed room and told there was a room available for us the next day which was closer to everything (and closer to my parents who were arriving in 3 days time). ROOMS The refurbed rooms are beautiful and spacious.  We were given a family room for two of us and they have an extra room with bunk beds in which is good for storage.  Tea and Coffee facilities are available and you are provided with plenty of bottles of water.  The fridge keeps things cold enough but disappointed to see that there is no longer a mini bar (you used to get one use free of the mini bar with soft drinks).   I emailed in advance to have rooms close together as my mam has mobility issues and unfortunately on their arrival, they couldn't have been given a room further away from us and everything!  This was disappointing as I understand it is dependant on availability but there were a lot of rooms around ours which were vacant.   FOOD & DRINK Food wise, it can get a little repetitive but there is always something you can get (there are always french fries on the kids menu if you get stuck!).  On the breakfast they make the best Falafel!!  Drinks, as always in Egypt aren't the best but are drinkable.  We read on here prior to arrival that you could use both the Palm and Beach side to dine but this is not the case and we were told you could only eat on the side you were staying on.  Hassan in the restaurant always brought you drinks with a smile.  Please ensure you speak to the ever helpful Roma at the guest relations desk on the Beach side to get booked in to the Al Dente restaurant. You are allowed one "free" booking with your all inclusive stay.  The food was lovely and nice to be served as opposed to helping yourself at the buffet and Mahmoud was a great host.   POOLS & BEACH The pools are great, Egyptian sun warms them so you can jump in anytime and not be cold.  Our favourite person Tarek is the lifeguard on the Olympic pool.  Nothing is too much trouble for this man, he has a heart of gold.  Looked after us and especially my older parents by not letting them carry things and providing them with water.  It meant the world to us.  He works so hard cleaning the pool and the surrounding areas.   The beach is beautiful as always, snorkelling is recommended.  We would swim at 6am before it got busy and security are on the beach stopping anyone swimming before this time.  Hisham on security is a credit to the hotel.  He was always so helpful and friendly.  We called him the Egyptian Tom Selleck.  Meet him and you will understand why! ENTERTAINMENT There is only entertainment on at the Beach side so please note you cannot watch entertainment at the Palm side unless you want to sit and watch a children's film on the projector.  There is a schedule for entertainment at the Palm side but it is not available.  The Beach side entertainment is varied and worth a watch from singers, karaoke, to a jet show in the pool.   LATE CHECKOUT Please note that you cannot find out if you can keep your room on for a few hours until the morning of checkout!  I have never encountered this and it has always been the day/evening before and this just means that you cannot relax properly on the chance that you still need to be out of your room at 12.  Even though you pay for the late checkout you get your band removed and you are not supposed to take advantage of anymore meals and drinks.   OVERALL Unfortunately if you are English you may wish to rebook to another hotel as you aren't just a minority, we actually didn't encounter any other English people there at all.  This has sealed it for us that Novotel is no longer the hotel for us.

i have been there for 10 days and it was my best vacation of all the time! Thanks hotel’s stuff for serving our team. Moreover, the animation team is very nice! I’ll definitely come back! Always befor I stayed In Sharm in Tropitel Naama Bay (new name Naama Bey hotel), but in this time I made disision will go in new hotel. My choice has stopped on Novotel beach and I'm not dsappointed. Great staff, helpful, friendly, attentive. A variety of food, a sufficient selection of fruits, and an assortment of sweets, you can book the entire fitness room for three years at once (by the way, you can will start directly at the hotel, it is free there). My room was on the ground floor overlooking the garden. The balcony in it is angular and this became a great advantage: could safely spend time at a table, because the location saved you from direct sunlight, forme a shadow. I was delighted with the shower in general: not a plastic cabin, but a real built-in one, with a large watering can with a rain effect (except for the usual manual one with a hose). The bed is king-sized, the TV is huge, the air conditioner, and most importantly, when you leave the room, it remains working. It is a 2-minute walk to the beach, 10 minutes to Naama Bay and Mango Market. The Old Town, Soho - all within a 5-minute taxi ride. The pharmacy is nearby, and the pharmacist is just a miracle: he will tell you everything, show you and can even wait with the payment. The hotel has a wonderful administrator - Yaroslava. There are problems - she will help, tell you where it is better to go, how best to find a taxi (even she will help you catch it), in general, in 2 weeks of rest, all my questions were answered, and my requests were fulfilled. The beach is sandy, you can just swim, or can with a mask, there are have a fishes and corals, in general, for every taste. A small minus, the sand is loose, the foot slightly goes deep into the sad, but the variety of marine inhabitants will make up for everything!!! My vacation and birthday was definitely a success. I want to repeat it many times!!!
