Worse weekend experience

I was looking forward to a great friends weekend away to catch a show in the city. Upon my arrival, there was a line of guests with their large luggage, we were informed the lifts were not working. We were given the option to take the stairs to the Reception. We were not told that there were three additional floors to climb to LV3. This unexpected inconvenience had staff not knowing what to do; some not knowing how to communicate the issues with patrons. The rooms I reserved were fine. However, the walk-in tub/shower was a safety hazard. I expressed my concern that they needed a safety bar as they are quite small, shallow and slippery. The most disappointing issue was upon check-out. Had I not checked my bank account, I may not have known any better that the holding fee for both rooms had been withdrawn from my account. I have stayed at many hotels and this cost has often just held against my credit card. They assured me it should not have been debited. It was and I had showed them it had been. There was no guarantee I would have gotten this money refunded had I not mentioned it. Whilst in an awesome, often busy location, I wasn't impressed with the staff and their customer service. I won't be recommending this accommodation to any family and friends in the future.

As a Accor Platinum member, this was my worst experience. There are many aspects that are not right about this place. On the day of check in, the FO Manger sent us a bottle of wine and 2 macaroons on a small plate, the latter not wrapped or sealed. We discarded it as we weren’t sure as to who else had handled these exposed items. The staff that delivered these items to us had about 5-6 others small plates with macaroons on his trayand I am assuming he came from the kitchen with these items exposed throughout his journey from room to room. When we asked for complimentary water, 3 bottles were dropped off in our room during our absence. One of those bottles without a cap. We spent 5 nights there and during the last two days of our stay, both lifts on the ground floor failed and 2 of the 3 lifts to the rooms failed. Breakfast is very average, tables are never wiped before fresh cutlery is placed. This is an observation of mine during the five mornings that my wife and I had breakfast there. In fact, my wife raised this matter independently with the Restaurant Manager Upul. Another observation is that the complimentary bottles of water supplied are refilled at the bathroom tap in the room. Why is it so difficult to provide filtered water in the room in this day and age. I have stayed multiple times at The Pullman Orchard in Singapore where they have filtered water on tap in each room. I will never ever stay at the Novotel again and would not recommend. My compliments to Salvatore, Joseph and Theo at Concierge for their fine service and courtesy.

Dear Novotel My apologies in advance for my review it is something that needs to be said. I can say that Novotel on Collins has truly dedicated staff which is wonderful as they are very approachable and wear a beautiful smile, it is a shame that the hotel is in very very super poor condition and needs a total makeover due to the fact that everything from the rooms to the pool, lifts and plumbing are in shocking condition! I really feel for the staff members who have to deal with issues that shouldn’t happen. I was not the only one that was disappointed because I spoke to other guests as well as witnessing complaints at the front desk. I honestly suggest that you call before booking to ask if everything is working to save disappointment on your getaway we were moved three times before they found a functional room which also had issues but not as bad as the other two. I have to say that in all of my travels I have never ever come across a hotel that literally needs to be gutted and rebuilt. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone until renovations are completed! I once again say that the staff were amazing in every aspect of customer service I rate them a ten and feel bad that they have to deal with the endless complaints. The hotel itself I give a minus zero! Please stay away until this place is renovated it will do nothing but disappoint you!!
