Reasonable budget hotel

Chose to stay in this budget hotel for one night, due to its proximity to the train station. It is in a good location for the Gare Saint Jean. For a budget hotel, it is a reasonable price and I would use again. Although room and shower were small, both were clean. Enjoyed breakfast which had a good choice.

We only spent 12 hours there due to an early flight, but we could not fault this hotel Rooms are compact but bright and in good condition. A small bar in reception and pizzas to order . Very pleasant welcome in reception. Cannot comment on breakfast

No air-conditioning

The air conditioning is not turned on. It is early May 2023 and is very warm at 26 degrees. But the hotel reception told us that the air-con doesn’t get turned on at this time of the year. It is much hotter in the room then outside. The shower was very weak. It kept changing from hot to cold. The towels are worn out and very thin. We paid over 100 euros a night. Very overpriced but it is Bordeaux. I would give this Ibis a miss as well as Bordeaux.

There are several Ibis hotels in this area so make sure that you book the right one. This one is only about 8 minutes walking from the station and although not in the best area, it was fine for what we wanted. Easy walking down to the river and along the riverfront and the tram is not far away. Hotel good, clean and everything fine. Good laundromat just the other side of the station, Stella's at Rue Pelleport. Would stay there again.

Good location but mosquitos and cleanliness can be an issue

The location was great as it was very close to public transit. The staff was friendly and helpful. The issues we had were with the mosquitoes and cleanliness. My wife and I were eat up with mosquito bites from only two nights and we never opened a window to allow them in. In the room there was a stain on my sheets and there were dead mosquitoes all over the walls that had not been cleaned up from the previous guests.
