Staff seems unhappy

Recently, I stayed at this hotel for 3 days on vacation: “The Cerretani Hotel Firenze”. I also just returned from a business trip at the “Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan” where I worked with the managers of the hotel, as a “Life Coach for Managerial Staff”. My company coaches’ hotel managers, and Fortune 500 Business managers worldwide. I am a “Life Coach” for managers and upper staff, and I am contracted by the upper management of these firms to help them create a positive, working environment for their employees, by coaching the managerial staff of these businesses. My company is located in NYC and Los Angeles. With that being said, The Hotel Cerretani Firenze could use someone’s help. I have never seen a more downtrodden staff throughout a hotel than I have at this hotel. The staff is unhappy, never smiling. They seem as if they are managed by a controlling, angry manager. I made it a point, to place myself in the lobby of this hotel and observe the staff on three occasions. As I suspected, the front desk staff is miserable, and so I set out to discover who the manager was. As I observed her, and as I suspected, her demeanor and unpleasant attitude is the cause of this misery. She marches behind them, like a Staff Sergeant waiting for them to make a mistake, no acknowledgement or eye contact, and this is why her front desk staff, and even the cafeteria staff, seem very uptight, and robotic, with no genuine smiles or relaxed, friendly attitudes. The Manager is responsible for the attitude of the staff, and she seems “old school” in her management skills. Basic rules in making employees and staff work their best are; 1) Build them up with genuine concern. 2) Encourage them, let them know they are doing a good job. 3) Compliment them. 4) Smile at them and look into their eyes. Use words that are specific, appreciative, and recognize their unique contributions. This will build self-esteem in the staff, and they will be a much happier, positive group of employees. I am incognito with this letter, as I do not need this hotels business and my company is worldwide. However, the owners and management who oversees this hotel: “CDL Hospitality Trust” (owners) and “The Events Hotels Group” (managers) had better do something quick because this hotels staff is crashing hard! I will not be staying at this hotel again! On a positive note, the room we stayed in was nice, clean and well arranged, but the staff is what truly makes a hotel stay pleasurable, and due to the manager, it was not for us

Talk About a Fab Location, Roomy Suites, Lovely Amenities

We loved the location of this gem of a hotel! At first we thought, as busy as it was situated at the corner where our driver could not really park in front of the hotel, it turned out okay. He was able to stay a few minutes a few steps to the side to unload (or load) our luggage and hotel staff were pretty quick about helping to bring our luggage inside. Located where there were many, many shops, restaurants and where the Duomo and the San Lorenzo market were just around the corner, we were in 7th heaven. Alessandro at the Front Desk was very personable, welcoming and ready to assist us and right away came out to help us when we arrived. Tawfiq, a little short in his manner with us but not so bad in the end, tended to argue with guests (as I observed with another guest he was talking to). Alain was also quite helpful. We really enjoyed the delicious welcome snacks and detox water always available in the lobby. Andreea at breakfast was such a pleasant and hospitable and attentive waitress ~ with a ready smile and querying us about what we needed or wanted. Actually, the rest of the wait staff were very good. The breakfast offerings were qutie sufficient and tasted good. Our Junior King Suite was spacious and we loved our bathroom, the bathroom mirror and the toiletries!!! We had comfortable beds, a couch turned 3rd bed with lots of space, and the premises: the public areas and our rooms were very clean. The elevator was slow, as other reviews noted but in Europe, elevators are usually slow and tight. No big deal. Altogether, I'd say we had a happy stay @Cerretani!

Great location, very central with efficient service. Nothing is missing; the staff is great, and the place is clean all around. The amenities are wonderful, making it a place I would return to and recommend to friends and family members.

Charming hotel in a great location, but with some service inconsistencies

Hotel Cerretani is a lovely boutique hotel, very well located just a few minutes from the city center, close to many restaurants and the iconic church Santa Maria del Fiore. The front desk staff was professional and helpful, and the housekeeping team did a great job, especially with the evening turndown service, which was a very nice touch. Unfortunately, the same level of service was not reflected during breakfast. One staff member could be heard shouting about colleagues or supervisors and frequently slammed the kitchen door loudly every time she entered or exited. Her attitude felt rude and visibly frustrated, which disrupted the otherwise calm atmosphere. Additionally, the breakfast selection itself was quite limited compared to expectations. Overall, it’s a beautifully located hotel with great potential, but some improvements in staff training and breakfast service would make the experience much better.

This hotel was in a great location right beside the duomo, lovely restaurants , shops , close to the train station. The rooms were clean , big and full of all the toiletries you need on a trip , the mini bar and endless supply of water was greatly appreciated, staff are so friendly and helpful, I would definitely stay here again.
