The room was fairly comfortable, but the bathroom so, so tiny. Compared with the Ibis hotels I have stayed in on the continent, this was not at all up to the same standard. Disappointing, especially for the price

Dirty man sleeping on the couch

I have been to this hotel a few times now and everytime I have come to visit, I always see an old guy sleeping on the couch by the fish tank doing all sorts of disgusting things eg: picking his nose, having his bare feet on the couch, scratching his feet and then rubbing his hands all over the couch. I do not believe it is fair that he gets to sleep on that couch for free and I have to pay everytime I am staying here. Why does he get it for free? Not only that it is not nice for other guests to see him doing all of these things especially going into breakfast aswell it is not a nice thing to see. If nothing gets done about him and he does not get removed. I will be going higher and making a bigger complaint. Staff just allow him to do all of this and just ignore the fact he is staying there “because it’s less drama” - quote from the management.

Unpleasant Sweaty Odour

I booked a room for the 24 October. I paid £48.60 for a double sweet room, plus £12 to park my car overnight. The location was perfect for an event at the Guildhall. Understanding it is a budget hotel, I accepted the small room, and ridiculously small bathroom where I could hardly navigate my knees around the toilet. However, I actually didn’t stay the night and handed back my room key because the corridor and room stank of stale sweat/feet (room 310). It was disgusting. I tried to mask the smell with deodorant but to no avail. And so my trip to see a live show, with drinks and an overnight stay was spoilt and I drove the 2 hrs back home instead. My basic expectations of a hotel room is that it doesn’t smell bad. An overpowering musty odour was definitely now included in the online description online. The bed looked cosy, and as I didn’t use any of the facilities, or shower, or eat and have a drink at the bar, I cannot comment a this at all. That wouldn’t be fair. Also, I didn’t ask for a different room at reception because I had already decided I didn’t want to stay. If a whole corridor smells bad, then the rooms will be the same. I only lost £60, but it was a small price to pay in my opinion

Small, cramped accommodations with poor design

Whilst I understand Ibis is aimed at a ‘budget’ market, I feel this stay was significantly overpriced for the offering provided. The room was incredibly cramped, especially in the bathroom which had an awkward shape. The room became too hot at night with no air conditioning available. A normal fan was provided but made no significant difference to temperature, and sleeping with the window open was near impossible due to loud street noise from a nearby establishment. Whilst the room looked to have a modern design, it was poorly thought out in most respects, even down to the location of plugs with only one available bedside on one side of the bed, not really suitable to modern day travels. In general the common areas had an uncomfortable decor, the staff were efficient but in no way personable or friendly.

No sleep in the cramped room

Thankfully only had to endure one night in this place. The lack of air conditioning in the room combined with the ridiculously loud night club music from across the road until past 2:30am meant for only a few hours sleep in the cramped and pokey room. Not worth mentioning much about the restaurant food suffice to say it was on par with the low standard of this establishment. £90 plus £12 for parking for a night just a complete rip off.
