quiet luxury in a lively city

Wonderful hotel in a great location just a 15 min walk to the Spanish steps, perhaps 20-25 min to the Fontana de Trevi, and just a few minutes’ walk to the gates of the Villa Borghese park. One thing we appreciated is that the immediate vicinity is not heavily commercial, so it was a quiet and private-feeling location in a city that doesn't sleep. Note that it's a short uphill walk when returning home from most places. Location was easy to get to by taxi if you’re tired of walking or are short on time; all rides originating from within various parts of the city were less than 9 Euro for us. Room was spacious and nicely appointed, with both modern and classical touches. Large King bed was comfortable; modern bathroom had a spacious shower and beautiful white marble all around; controls for lights and climate were intuitive and modern. The Illy espresso machine was a nice touch and put to good use. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful, although we didn’t have to rely on them too much aside from check in and departure. Housecleaning service did a wonderful job daily, but for some reason we only had turn-down service one evening and not the other three. Sofitel Villa Borghese was a wonderful place to stay for our 4 nights in Rome. Would recommend it to anyone seeking a nice and quiet but central location, a solid dose of luxury, and friendly and helpful staff. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Sadly a racist operation. My party arrived at about 7:30pm on 9/25. We requested seating on the terrace but were told the terrace was reserved for the entire evening. We were offered interior seating which we accepted. We walked to an empty table and were called back to the entry. Only two tables were available to us both near the kitchen. We ordered dinner and while we waited, we took the time to see thebview of the terrace. Surprisingly terrace had four open seats and we assumed others with reservations would arrive to claim the space. As we returned from the terrace, we notice there were four interior tables available with a view of the horizon. At approximately 8pm, two couples not having reservations were given seating with a view of the horizon. Shortly thereafter, a single woman arrived with no reservation and she was given terrace seating. Segregated seating at the rooftop restaurant is unacceptable. Its 2022 and the staff are permitted to openly mistreat non-white patrons. Four brown people stuck at the entry with poor view and poorer service. Disgusting.

Excellent hotel with recently renovated rooms. Spectacular rooftop restaurant. Superb breakfast! Just a few steps away from Via Vittorio Veneto, Spanish Steps and other touristic locations. Staff is professional and welcoming.

I can’t tell you if the food is good or not. As today at 9:45 pm we entered the the nearly empty restaurant and were told they were fully booked. After a couple of minutes waiting, the staff member who “greeted” my myself and my wife opened with “what do you want?” I asked if the restaurant was still open, mostly because it was empty, we were told the kitchen closed at 10.30 but they were fully booked, pretty poor treatment of guests of a hotel. Over the years I have stayed at many Sofitels and affiliated hotels and am now a diamond Accor member. I have never written a bad review about a Sofitel or any attached restaurants but this takes the cake.

Of course we respect the fact you decided to leave and can only apologize one more time for not beeing able to deliver the experience you were looking for.
