Wonderful three night stay in this stylish hotel

We spent three night here to celebrate my birthday. Our room was large, with a view over the city, interestingly designed open plan bathroom and deep pile carpeting which made it snug for January. Large comfy bed, free soft drinks in the mini bar and a good coffee machine. Not a sound from outside or the corridor. The staff were warm, polite and attentive without fail and made us feel very welcome. We had a dinner in the hotel dining room which was absolutely delicious. The chef spent some years in Asia and some of the dishes had an Asian take. All in all a great experience.

Nice room, incompetent service

We picked La Cloche so we could relax in our room and at the spa directly after a long transatlantic journey. We arrived at check-in time (3 pm) and were told our room wasn't ready. Although the reception contacted housekeeping immediately, it took another 2 hours for them to prepare the room. No explanation, no excuse, no effort. We then found out that the spa was closed on Sunday afternoons, which meant we wouldn't be able to use the miserly 45 minutes of pool access included with our rate. Finally, when parking our rental car in the hotel underground parking, the automatic trunk hit the low ceiling and was scratched in a couple places. When we explained the issue at the reception, they had nothing to say. Perhaps because he heard we were talking about cars, the valet decided to add his two cents and rudely explained in barely veiled terms that we were idiots for not seeing the height of the parking ceiling indicated at the entrance and not knowing the height of the open trunk of our rental car. The manager of the hotel didn't feel any more sorry for us, rejected all responsibility, and explained that it would be completely impossible for the hotel to have a padded ceiling in the parking (like it's done in other places). If the staff isn't interested in providing a level of service or even politeness matching the hotel's luxury aspirations, I would suggest they consider seeking work at a truck stop instead. The room was nice and breakfast was good, though.

Good Base in Dijon

As others have mentioned, the location is adjacent to the tram line, a 7-minute walk from the train station, across the street from a nice park, and it sits on the edge of the historic UNESCO city center. Be advised however, if you wonder off in the "wrong" direction, the area can get sketchy fast. After traveling most of the day and walking up from the train station, a little help with luggage during arrival going up the stairs at the front entrance would have been appreciated but was never offered till we were inside. Our Deluxe room was spacious and very nice. We did not use the services this 5-star Grand Dame hotel offers, but it did serve as a great base for exploring Dijon's historic city center and touring wine country to the north.

Quintessential French Experience

This splendid hotel is everything you'd want for your French village experience. Perfect location to walk everywhere or take the tram. Well appointed, attractive modern rooms & artwork, juxtaposed with the historic building blends beautifully. We felt rescued when we entered the reception area, as the VRBO we planned on was filthy, very moldy and uninhabitable for us. It was my good fortune to have this fantastic attraction available for my 65th birthday, to be our home base whilst exploring Dijon, surrounding vineyards & cuisine. We look forward to returning!

Excellent hotel in the heart of Dijon

A perfect stay at Grand Hotel La Cloche. What a place! Beautiful building, right in the heart of Dijon, 5 minutes walk from the train station. Warm and professional welcome at Front Desk, checkin done in a matter of seconds (no online check in). Modern and spacious rooms, all you need is there, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Amazing breakfast, hot and cold, with high quality products (nice cheese selection, excellent pastries). Great bar, the kind of place where you can spend hours. Congratulations to the staff, you often see hard products let down by poor management. Not the case here, everything is on spot, and contributes to make your stay as good as can be. Will return, no question about that.
