Excellently located hotel, within easy walking distance of sights, shops and restaurants. We have visited previously and it was nice to return. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.
Overnight stay touring Normandy.

Room basic but very clean and comfortable. Ideal for 1-night stay. Very close to all the amenities of Caen. Safe underground car parking with lift to Reception area in main building. No bar or restaurant, but could use facilities in Mercure Hotel adjoining.

This Ibis is next to the Mercure (easy to confuse with other Ibis located a few blocks away. At Harbor and easy walk to historic district, restaurants etc. Very comfortable rooms, bed very comfy and very clean bath. breakfast the next morning was excellent. Would recommend.

Ibis Caen is value for money. But the rooms are a bit depressing and in need of brightening up. The bed toppers where comfortable but kept slipping off. Excellent breakfasts. But unfortunately no restaurant.

I have used this hotel for visits to a family member living in Caen for over 10 years. It has always been well suited to our needs - until now. In the past the breakfast has been a highlight, especially when they introduced small home baked gluten free rolls. Not now! The run up to the D Day celebrations was not adequately prepared for, inspite of several pre-booked coach parties - including 'Beyond Band of Brothers' from Dallas. From 6:30am to 9:30am Breakfast was over run by crowds of Brothers and Sisters living out their 'America First' identity. There were no extra staff on duty, and the single helper was run off his feet. There was no manager present helping out with the exceptional and entirely predictable circumstances. As a result the juice ran out, the bacon and scrambled egg was cold and not replenished on time. The home baked GF rolls have been replaced by microwave rolls in cellophane, which are often under cooked and have a cold heart, etc etc I made a comprehensive complaint to the front desk manager (no catering manager available at breakfast time!)and they had the decency not to charge for the three rubbish breakfasts. There was one good news story for which I expressed my thanks: I couldn't sleep and ss there is no hot drinks kit in the room, I went down to the nightwatchman in the Adjacent Mercure at 4:30am and he kindly fetched me the double black expresso which kick starts the French work day! This was a management failing; I hope reinforcing troops will be recruited and trained before D-Dat.
