Don’t eat the room service if your a foodie

Novotel darling harbour not worth it being in this area. Attention to detail is key for this particular area. I’ve stayed at many hotels including Novotel just 20min walk from this location and that was way better. Price of the room was valid if you’re a member which I am and because of this my expectation was not met. The room did meet my expectations it was nice plenty of space from the 4th floor the view was good. Got to see the Saturday night fireworks in comfort which I enjoyed but what let me down was the food. I ordered over $130 worth of room service and it was cold, not even worth giving to my dog and I don’t have a dog. Ordered the sirloin steak. Cooked perfectly but like I said it was cold. The gravy that was with it was very watery no flavour so bland and for $60 it was very disappointing. I also ordered the steak sandwich and I couldn’t even take a bite due to the cut of meat they used. It was cooked well but it was a very cheap cut that was used and for $30 definitely had better for way less. Now I’m not being unreasonable I just expect to have good food for what I was paying. Now it wasn’t just the room service food that was bad but also the buffet. That food was either stone cold or too hard almost broke a tooth just trying to eat the bacon. If Novotel could take anything from this review perhaps change the way you serve your food maybe have a hot service tray to keep the food hot warm at least especially for room service

Comfortable and Convenient Accommodation with some nice amenities

Spent four nights here. Handy location near Darling Harbour, and a few minutes walk into the CBD. Open and bright reception area with bars, restaurants, and lots of nice seating on same floor. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. I had expected a clear view of Darling Harbour from our room but lots of apartment construction directly in front blocking most of the view unfortunately. Overall the hotel is a bit aged but still a bright, pleasant and comfortable place to stay. Staff and service were very nice, friendly, and helpful.

Favorite to Failure

Was one of our favorite hotels until now, have been a Platinum member for many years and Diamond before Covid and the Novotel would give a free upgrade, free parking and a bottle of wine which was very much appreciated. But the rules have now changed as of 1 August 2025 now you pay for parking, might get an upgrade and instead of a bottle of wine you have a bottle of water and a packet of biscuits. Then you have your complimentary drink which used to be top shelf now you choose from the happy hour drink list. Then you have the Turnary Restaurant which was always consistent good service and food at a good price. Last night I was greeted by a waitperson chewing gum and made us feel she was doing us a favor taking us to our table, presentation of food has dropped and prices have increased. There is talk the hotel is being sold and refurbished to a Pullman, hopefully that will be soon and with management that cares for those that pay top dollar to have their status.

Novotel Darling Harbour Never Again McDonalds breakfast would be better

We stayed at Novotel Darling Harbour and found the experience sub standard and not worth the expense. The breakfast which was included with our package was absolutely terrible. We stayed two nights and on the second day at 4pm our room was still not serviced. At breakfast the fried eggs in the bain-marie were stone cold as was the bowl of scrambled eggs. None of the bain-marie's had the burner going under neath so all the breakfast options were cold including the bacon. We tried asking for eggs cooked to order but after eventually finding a staff member to order them (which was not easy) we gave up after 20 minutes of waiting. The urn for the water for tea was luke warm so it was impossible to get a hot cup of tea. There was a gluten and dairy free area but no margarine only butter. We asked a staff member for margarine and she had to go and ask her supervisor what it as. The bread for the toaster was hard like it had been left out all night. It was like fawlty towers. Never again.

Fabulous food, and really great service from two lovely waitresses. Ella & Jenna. Very knowledgeable and made changes for my allergies and suggested superb dishes. Scallops, octopus and snapper all perfectly cooked and delicious. Thanks will be back.
