Novotel Orléans St Jean de Braye 4 estrelas

One of the best Novotel we stayed at. Slept one night on our way to Paris from Barcelona. Fantastic rooms. Nice staff. Typical Novotel breakfast. Gets full ticks. Value for money. Very close to Paris. Better than staying in Amboise. The design of the rooms is one of the nicest. We stayed in two rooms. Family of five.

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of September. It's advertised as a 4 star hotel, but personally I class it as 3 star. It is very basic. The room was very clean, the bathroom was mostly clean but there were slops of toothpaste and product up the walls and on the door, housekeeping needs to be a bit more vigilant. The carpet in the rooms is so thin and grey and would be more fitting in an office or municipal space. Reception staff were fine but not stellar. I did appreciate the kettle in the room. Couldn't swim as they'd just closed the pool for the season , but it looked nice and very clean. It's OK, fine for a night or two if passing through, but in my opinion it should be 3 star.

Thought we would upgrade from an Ibis....what a waste of money ! Overpriced and unpalatable food, and lack of sleep. Loud argumentative conversations at 02:30 am, which went on for ages, little sleep as wondered what was going on, but didn't dare to open the door as didn't want to get involved in case things turned nasty! Wasn't impressed with menu, except starters, main courses expensive, not very imaginative and my steak was tough and grisly, and at €22 was expecting something a lot better.

We stopped by this hotel to break our long travel and we were not disappointed. We normally opt to stay at Novotels, if possible when we travel just because we know what to expect, comfortable beds, good location, clean rooms. We did get all this but so much more. The service in particular, was impeccable and went above and beyond the expectation. Shirley from the reception was extremely helpful. She was so accommodating with all our questions and she even went out of her way to translate for us when we needed help. She was also very welcoming and pleasant. The decor of the hotel is also a bit different from the standard decor that we see in other novotels, it was classy and cosy at the same time. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area again.

From the check-in to the check-out everything was good. The room, the food, and above all the staff. Not the easiest place to get to off the autoroute but worth the extra kms. This is not our first time and it won’t be our last.
