We’ve just spent 3 nights at the Novotel. The location of the hotel is fabulous with a very convenient nearby underground parking but that’s it. We have stayed in many Novotels in the past but we never came across such a dirty place. I wish the health department would come check this place. The breakfast buffet it’s a zoo, staff with loose hair, zero grooming and unfriendly. They basically dispose rest of food from guests on paper napkins that guests were using as place mats to clear tables, don’t even clean the tables asides sometimes whipping with a dirty rag. We even witnessed staff members putting their hands inside the milk container of the coffee machine several times without any hygiene. The floor of the restaurant is dirty and sticky from juice, food, etc. The benches were dirty, even the silverware that was supposed to be clean was dirty. Staff have clearly no training and don’t care. The reception staff was also not very nice, they are very happy drinking coffee and eating behind the reception. Zero grooming standards. Even during check out the reception desk was empty as the receptionist on duty was outside smoking and drinking coffee. It’s unreal. Rooms have a great size but are also quite dirty, the bathroom sink was full of slime and hair. What a disgrace for a Novotel. Where are the standards ????

THEFT ALERT!

My family and friends a group of doctors booked the hotel 3 months in advance based on the reputation. However while checking in at 3pm while my friend was handing over his passport for check in, someone walked into the lobby of the hotel and snatched his bag from the couch behind him and ran away. This happened right infront of the reception. On questioning the hotel manager very casually said that the hotel lobby is a public place and theft can happen in any hotel. The manager sent us then to the police station to file a complaint ourselves inspite of the many valuables and personal items lost. There was no responsibility taken by the manager. After reaching the police station later in the evening the police tell us that the hotel hasnt even sent the cctv footage to the police for them to investigate. Please choose a safer hotel for your stay. Security apparently is not guaranteed inspite of the huge hotel charges levied.

Great hotel for historic Brussels

This hotel continues to be one of our favorites in Brussels. It's location so close to the Grand Place and within the historic district is perfect. Rooms are clean, although a bit small compared to North American standards, but with the big windows they are airy. If you are a couple ask for view of the plaza in front. They have a nice buffet breakfast which you can have included if requested. The hotel is starting to run-down a bit but not significantly. Stay within the historic district, unfortunately Brussels is not what it was years ago. Its not the safest city in Europe by a long shot.

Absolutely fantastic hotel in a brilliant location - just a couple of minutes away from Centraal Station in one direction and Grand Place in the other. The room was clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and having a mini fridge was really useful. Every staff member we spoke to was multi-lingual and very helpful. We would most certainly stay here again.
