Novotel Bayeux bintang 4

Stayed here with the family to visit the d-day sites. Hotel is as expected for a Novotel, quality is good, beds and bathroom as well. Nothing special, but it fitted the purpose. Pool is not big but the kids were happy with it.

Great hotel and even better staff! In our hurry to leave on check out day, we left some things in our room safe. The reception staff, especially Mathieu, were extremely helpful and attentive in getting our things returned to us in the US. Would definitely recommend staying here!!

Wifi - when working it would cut in and out and times did not work for 12 hours. Unsecured network used. Rooms - cheap. Not replenished when first coming into room. Fridge did not work Only one little bottle of water Only paper cups that were tiny (for drinking) Dining - breakfast, Food was cold (i.e. eggs, pancakes, etc) waiter/tress service was very slow at dinner, if there was more than one at table no one got their food together. Meaning: one plate then 20 minutes another. (So kitchen/cook incompetent or the waiter is) The menu (mind you the food was good for dinner) only had three dinner options (main meal) Very minimal. Only smoking area is at the front door to the hotel where they have the ashtray so when non smokers come out they smell/inhale it. As well, the cigarette smoke wafts into the lobby. There is a very spacious terrace around the pool put the smokers there. 25 min walk to the city centre of bayeux, not practical for visitors unfamiliar with the area.

Parking just outside with tight spaces. Room was ok but the bedding was the kind you can find in homes for elder care. That is the plasic kind of sheet if you have incontinens during the night. Strange and uncomfortable. The restaurant is worth a mentioning. And not in a good way. First we were “greeted” by a young woman who didn’t want to give us a table until we said that we had checked with the receptionist that we wanted to eat at 21:00. After that another server too over and she avoided us for the rest of the evening. I ordered chicken and my wife fish. The fish was not completely cooked through which made it hard to cut, but my chicken breast was served raw in the middle. Highly unprofessional and dangerous! I sent it back and got the same piece of chicken in return again but this time not raw at least. I can guarantee you that we will not return here.

Classic Novotel experience. Great hotel; convenient, clean, modern, well appointed, gym, heated pool, and capacious breakfast. As ever, helpful, bright and engaging staff (especially if you try a bit of French - however bad), and good value. Friends stayed in the nearby Campanile and will be staying in the Novotel next time - aircon, pool, and large rooms swayed it. I even received a freshly baked apricot muffin in my room, presumably as an Accor card holder, but a nice touch nonetheless. Frankly, I could have stayed onger than my two nights...will be back.
