This Hotel is discussing, it’s dirty and old. The lobby is new don’t be fooled.! The air conditioning does not work the bathrooms are filthy, they have put new grout over mould. The beds are horrible and the pillows are like concrete. DO NOT STAY HERE.

At first you are wowed by the entrance hall. Modern, sleek, elegant. Then things start going pear-shaped as you get to the lifts (only two, with a maximum three-people capacity despite the 8-person or 600kg notice inside), which can take longer than you’d normally expect. The corridors and the rooms are… well… disappointing: the carpet looks perennially dirty despite the efforts of the cleaning team, with the baseboards covered in a thick layer of dust. The room itself is passable, with a decor straight out of the 90s. (It certainly looks like it hasn’t been renovated since). The fact that the toilet is in a separate room, with plastered walls and no washbasin, gasted my flabbers. There are also lovely positives: the location is unparalleled, the breakfast offers quite the spread, the view of the breakfast area is breathtaking, looking straight at the old fortress, staff is accommodating and friendly and the swimming pool are is truly agreeable. We would go back but not under the pretence this is a 4-star hotel, because it isn’t.

Great location just up the hill from the centre of the Old Port - tip you can get a bus with your bank card. Lovely views from the terrace bar and breakfast room (good choice of food on offer). The pool is a great option although very busy when we were there and not enough sun beds… especially if families are there. Waiter drinks service by the pool is handy. Good size room but bathroom has seen better days and needs redecorating which is a shame as rest of the hotel is modern and fresh.

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever got. Room cleaners disturbed us 2h before check out several times even though we had do not disturb sign out. One of the cleaners broke my makeup and tried to cover it by hiding it to my makeup bag. Breakfast was very nice but when we had dinner, servers were very rude. Rooms definitely need an upgrade! Would not recommend this hotel.

This is the worst 4 star hotel I have stayed in (and I have stayed in a lot!). Accor/Novotel should be embarrassed to associate their brand name with it. It is poorly maintained and simply dirty and smelly. The rooms and hallways are run down. We were on the third floor and there was a permanent offputting smell akin to “wet dog” mixed with cheap fragrant cleaning products in all the common areas. There was a strange, small machine that moved its way along the hallway during our stay, which presumably was an attempt to remove the smell. The machine looked a bit like a shoe cleaning machine but whatever it was, it was not working, as the smell did not dissipate in our stay. The walls and ceiling of the corridor had water damage as well as lots of dirty marks. It was no better in our room which had some newer furniture but had lots of dirty marks and water damaged doors and skirting boards, but at least it did not smell. It looks like the maintenance team clocked off about 10 years ago. The bathroom needed a good scrub. The room was dark and dingy, even when you put all the lights on. Annoyingly only paper cups are provided in the room, rather than glasses. The bed and bed linen and air con were aok and the room was a decent size. The pool area (presumably because it is shared with the adjoining Sofitel) and part of the lobby are the only decent parts of the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Even if the hotel had a good clean and renovation, I would recommend tourists to stay on the other side of the old port to the Novotel. The Pharo gardens next door to the Novotel are beautiful and a must visit but otherwise the nicer parts of the old port are on other side. To my surprise the port is huge so it’s quite a trek from one side of the port to the other.
